Buying the perfect gift, whether it is for Christmas, a birthday or just a special occasion, can be the hardest decision. So much to take into consideration, where to buy your gift, does it suit the person receiving it, is it kind to the planet, sustainable and made in Britain. All that and value for money!  Taking all this into account; I have now found the most incredible company that puts a tick in each of these boxes. GLENCROFT COUNTRYWEAR.  Richard and Justina Sexton established Glencroft in 1987 with a range of classic British country wear that is made from natural fibres that include British Wool, Harris Tweed, and sheepskin.

Their philosophy is exactly what all businesses should offer; being responsible in sourcing high quality materials, creating timeless products that last: nothing fancy (not sure I agree with that as you will see later in this review), just proper standards that no corners are cut so that customers know they can trust their products both in Britain and abroad. They listen and tackle any mistakes and problems in a timely fashion.

I received one of their first jumper styles in the late 1980s and has been continually asked for by people both here in Britain and the USA. When I opened the package, my eyes nearly popped out of my head as I stared at the gorgeous classic Aran jumper with a sheepy landscape. As I am originally from Africa, when I first came to the UK, seeing the rolling green hills dotted with sheep, has become a sight of which I will never tire. So, to me this jumper screams tradition, Britain and is perfect in every way.

Made from 100% British Wool it is soft and feels like a warm hug on a cold and damp day, one of those days where you want to curl up under the quilt. This Aran jumper boasts a traditional pattern which comes from the Aran islands off the West Coast of Ireland. It is designed for both men and woman. The colouring is cream with flecks of natural grey and black fibres (called the nep). Sizing is true to size, an added feature that makes purchasing easier – something that is not very common these days!

Each purchase comes with care information; if like me everything ends up in a basket then pushed into the washer, so it is over and done without hassle. I was really surprised to know that wool does not need to be washed after every wear, it just needs a brush down with a soft brush. Wool is natural, biodegradable, insulating, breathable, durable, odour resistant, kind to skin and it is even good for the sheep.

Glencroft also offer a wide range of items, all perfect for Christmas gifts as they are warming in the dead of winter, to bring joy and love to that someone special. Items include Hats/Caps; Gloves/Mittens; Slippers (this may end up under our tree for my husband), Jackets, Rugs, throws, bags and more!
