We were off to the Garrick Theatre in London to see Let It Be – the musical about The Beatles. We parked the car at Stanmore tube station on the outskirts of London and caught the tube in. Parking cost £5 and for a day ticket on the tube it was £8.90. I wouldn’t recommend parking in London as it is very busy and you have the congestion charges.
The Garrick Theatre is an amazing place. From the outside the theatre doesn’t look very large. But when you get inside the theatre and look up it’s stunning. There are 4 tiers of seating including the stalls. We sat in the stalls. There was plenty of legroom. I could stretch mine out and not touch the seat in front of me. The theatre was air conditioned. At first I thought it would be a bit cold but it was the perfect temperature when the show had started. The overall cleanliness of the theatre was good. Although I think they could do with upgrading the hand driers in the toilets. The staff were very helpful in showing us to our seats. There were plenty of staff there if you needed any help.
The view from the seats that we had was great. We were on row E. Seats 17 & 16. At first I was a bit worried that I wouldn’t be able to see very well as I am not very tall, but I didn’t need to worry.
Let It Be is the best show I have seen so far. It was non-stop Beatles songs from start to finish (over 20 of their hits). It is a really good show if you like the Beatles or even if you don’t. The cast of the show got the audience involved. Got us up singing and dancing! The shows starts from their beginnings in the Cavern Club in the sixties right through to the height of their fame and Beatlemania.
You are allowed to take photos throughout the show, which you aren’t normally allowed to do in theatres.
Programmes cost £6 and are worth every penny.
Overall I would rate the theatre 5 out of 5. I would also rate the show as 5 /5. I would highly recommend the show. I would like to recommend the website www.officialtheatre.com and thank Rebecca for all the help throughout my trip to London.
