Kopparberg Cherry Spiced Rum is distilled with pride and expertly crafted with master ingredients and natural fruit flavours for a bold and powerful taste that made Kopparberg famous. Inspired by the nocturnal animals that surround the town of Kopparberg, the dark cherry rum is made for those who dare “to be different in the dark.”
With caramel and ginger aromas, this spiced rum is includes the sour and sweet notes of cherry, delivering a deep and intense punch of flavour. The ideal serve suggestion is 50ml of Kopparberg Cherry Rum over ice in a tall glass, with cola mixer of choice, and a lime wedge to garnish.
Fair play to Kopparberg by labelling this rum as both Spiced and Flavoured along with hitting the minimal 37.5% ABV they are producing a Spiced/Flavoured rum in line with EU regulations. Rather than the numerous Rum based Spirit Drinks that have appeared on our shelves (alongside rum) in recent years. Now, for those of us in the UK Kopparberg are most famous for their Pear and Mixed Fruits ciders, which are probably only eclipsed in terms of sales by Strongbow and Strongbow Dark Fruits. Kopparberg Cherry Flavoured Spiced Rum is a Dark Spiced Rum infused with Premium Fruit flavours.
Presentation wise is in keeping with Kopparberg’s Cider range with a dark label with a gold Kopparberg logo.
For a spiced rum Kopparberg Cherry Flavoured Spiced Rum is not to heavy on the additives. It bobs at 35% with the hydrometer, which indicates around 10 g/L of additives. Really quite low for a spiced rum and a flavoured spiced rum at that. Kopparberg Cherry Flavoured Spiced Rum is a bright colour for a dark spiced rum which has been infused with premium fruit flavours. It’s bright red! Initially you get a mixture of vanilla and toffee spiced rum alongside some distinct Cherry notes. The cherry notes are really sweet and remind me of sweets my children tend to eat around Halloween.
Some of the recipes I tried were the CHERRY RUM MOJITO and my personal favourite, the CHERRY RUM STORM.
Cherry Rum Mojito
Take a tall glass and pour Kopparberg Cherry Spiced rum over mountains of crushed ice. Add 2 teaspoons of brown sugar, squeeze in the juice of 1/2 a lime, add soda water and give it a good stir. Then garnish with basil or mint leaves.
Cherry Rum Storm
Take a tall glass and pour Kopparberg Cherry Spiced rum over mountains of ice. Then squeeze in the juice of 1/2 a lime, add 2 teaspoons of soft brown sugar and give a good stir. Then add ginger ale and garnish with a wedge of lime.
Kopparberg Cherry Rum is currently sold in 70cl bottles and RTD premixed cans of rum and cola in 250ml cans in 4 packs. There are no artificial sweeteners in Cherry Rum 37.5% or Cherry Rum & Cola 5.0%. It is also gluten free and suitable for vegans. It can be purchased in store at various supermarkets and online.
