SPAM® SCISSORHANDS

(Makes approx. 30 goujons)

Ingredients
1 x 340g can of SPAM® – cut into fingers
100g white breadcrumbs
40g salted popcorn
1 rounded teaspoon of smoked paprika
1 large egg – beaten
50g plain flour
Vegetable oil for frying

Method

  1. Beat the salted popcorn with breadcrumbs and smoked paprika and place in a medium bowl. Put the flour in a separate shallow bowl and the beaten egg in another bowl.
  2. Dip the SPAM® fingers in the flour completely covering them, then dip in the beaten egg and finally coat in the smokey breadcrumbs.
  3. Continue until all the SPAM® fingers are coated, pressing the breadcrumbs into the fingers.
  4. Lay the fingers on a baking tray and leave in the fridge for a few hours or overnight.
  5. Cover the base of a frying pan with oil and fry the fingers on each side until golden. Do not overfill the pan, best cooked in batches.
  6. Serve with various dips.

SPAM® Musubi Critters

Approx 4/5 servings

Ingredients

340g can of SPAM® – cut into 8 slices
4 cups cooked sushi rice
White cheese (of your choice) – cut into shapes of your choice
Seaweed – cut into shapes of your choice

1 tbsp Soy sauce

Method

  1. Trim the SPAM® slices to the shape of your choice.
  2. Fry both sides of the SPAM® slices in a frying pan over a medium heat until brown
    and crispy. Drizzle with Soy sauce once cooked.
  3. In the meantime, shape your rice. Place a piece of plastic wrap into the SPAM® can and pat down the rice. When the rice is compact, pull the plastic wrap up and you’ll have a brick of rice.
  4. Tope the rice with the cooked SPAM® slices.
  5. Decorate with cheese and seaweed pieces – enjoy while warm!

SPAM® Bloody Mary Sliders

Ingredients
1 x 340g SPAM® can
6 buns, split in half
225g ketchup
2 tablespoons horseradish
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
½ teaspoon hot sauce
Pickles (sliced)

Method

  1. Combine ketchup, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce together. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  • Slice the SPAM® and sear on griddle until golden brown.
  • Spread slider buns with Bloody Mary Ketchup
  • Place SPAM® slices on buns, top with pickles

To give the sliders even more of a Halloween twist, secure 2 olive ‘eyes’ on top of each slider with toothpicks to create scary Monster Meatball Sliders.
