The Edinburgh Playhouse is at the top of Leith Walk and is really easy to access by bus, tram, train or taxi. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants within walking distance if you are making a night out of it. There is also a car park nearby if you want to take the car.
Keep Dancing is billed as “the Ballroom Dance Sensation” which is very true but it was so much more! There was modern dance, Latin American, sixties and everything in between. Each of the dancers was amazing, the energy and the effort they put in. You could tell that they were doing what they loved. The show was seamless and the three singers made this possible. They were fantastic, at every single song. The show is very energetic – it bounced along from start to finish. If you are expecting it all to be about Jay & Aliona (the reigning Strictly Champions) then you will be disappointed as they are only on about 4 times but don’t let this put you off the other dancers including Robin Windsor and Anya Garnis, who have both starred in Strictly, more than make the show worth watching. I am a huge Robin Windsor fan and he did not disappoint – he made it look effortless and was just amazing as was Anya. There were some really modern and powerful dances – there is definitely something that everyone will enjoy. Jay is obviously not a professional dancer but there is something so endearing about him and Aliona – they obviously have a great partnership that it doesn’t matter that he isn’t the greatest dancer in the world. He brings another dimension to the show.
There were costume changes galore and the stage was simply set as to not detract from the dancers. The lighting was atmospheric and changed with the mood of the dance. Get to see this show now you will not be disappointed. The person I went with last night has bought tickets again to see it – that is how good this is. It’s a ten from me! Keep Dancing and waltz off now to get your tickets!
Tickets cost from £21.40 to £48.40 (plus £4 transaction fee).
