IMO Q4 Pro Mobile Phone Review

I think it would be fair to say that I am a tech geek.  I feel like Christmas has come early when I treat myself to a new gadget as a gift or am gifted one by friends or family.  I also work in the building trade and my poor phone seems to often end up covered in dust.  I therefore always like to have a back up phone available. 

I was therefore over the moon to be sent an IMO Q4 Pro Mobile Phone device to review. It is a brand new model that only came out in May and it is available on a TESCO Mobile Pay as you go basis. That said, I unlocked the device to be able to use it on my current mobile phone network.   The mobile phone arrived quickly, well packed in its box and therefore in perfect condition.  I love the design of the box.  IMO Mobile really know their stuff when it comes to creating stunning designs.

 I excitedly unpacked the box and found that its contents were as follows:

• Mobile phone
• Battery
• Instructions
• USB lead

Firstly, I inserted the USB lead into the phone, plugged it in using a USB Plug that I had already and left the phone to charge for several hours.  Once the phone had a full charge I excitedly started the set-up process.  I can find setting up new devices very daunting and so was relieved to see that this amazing piece of technology guided me step by step through the set-up process.  I set the date and time, put a pin in, entered my Google Play store information and set up the Wifi.  One piece of functionality that I have not set up yet is facial recognition, but I plan to do so in the coming weeks.  The whole set up process did not take long at all.  I did want to mention at this point that the standards background which is on the phone when you turn it on looks cheery and colourful.  It is perfect for these up and down lockdown days.  You can of course easily change your background though. 

As a Dad of two grown up sons and grandfather to four delightful grandchildren, the most important function for me is the camera functionality.  I have taken several pictures on the phone since receiving it and they look stunning.  I have absolutely no doubt that they will come out well if and when I decide to print them on photo paper.  The touch screen is reliable and responsive. 

I referred to the IMO Mobile website to find out about the phone’s functionality:

• 5.45” edge to edge HD Display – I think that the wide screen functionality (18:9 wide screen ratio) is excellent for both gaming and watching videos
• Dual rear camera (8MP + 0.3 MP)  and ultra-wide camera angles – I would agree with the website’s claim about “crystal clear precision”
• Front camera (5MP)
• Face unlock – This is an excellent idea leaving you piece of mind security wise
• 540 x 1132 DPI resolution
• 16GB memory – I am up to around 5% now and can choose to buy a MicroSD card to expand memory to 64GB

It was really easy to add any Apps I wanted on my new phone.  

I am so impressed with this mobile phone that I have decided to move over to having an Android phone again. I was shocked when I found out the RRP as I would have been willing to pay around £100 for this lovely piece of technology.

This phone would make an excellent inexpensive Father’s Day gift for that tech mad Dad or Grandfather in your life.   I think it that it is also a Tech Must Have item for someone who loves technology as much as I do.  In my view, it would also be perfect for a child as they would not be taking a really expensive phone to school, but they still have all the amazing functionality it offers.
