A really nice “ posh “ hamper, the one I specifically chose was the “ Gentleman’s tea hamper “ and perfect for Father’s Day ..or for step dad , uncle , or even a grandad , for that very special person in your life. The hamper arrived in a very sturdy cardboard box which can be recycled which is important. On opening the box, inside was a lovely wicker basket which can also be used again. All nestled in the paper straw were all the goodies. All arrived perfectly safe, two bottles of “ Butcombe “original beer from the brewing company in Bristol made from Maris otter malt and a secret blend of English hops and went down a treat . Both bottles were kept extra safe having a plastic netting over them. I am not sure if these were recyclable. My children’s step dad really enjoys cheese and there is not much left now. The cheese was a 200g of beechwood smoked mature cheese from the snowdonia cheese company and to accompany the cheese a 75g box of black pepper crackers with a hint of sea salt made by Verduijn’s. Also a 50g stay fresh tub of hand cooked salt and vinegar crisps from “Proud Heritage “ The 295g jar of recipe number 40 perfect ploughman’s pickle containing crunchy mixed vegetables ideal for vegans and gluten free alike, made in Wiltshire was delicious to say the least along with the crisps and crackers. Also in the hamper was a jar of traditional pork Rillette by Cornish Charcuterie. I have never heard of this before so wasn’t sure. It wasn’t something that we would probably choose to have again. This is pork poached in duck fat lightly seasoned and then shredded.
For the sweet toothed dads there was a slab of rocky road chocolate barrel bar from Cambridge confectionery which i must say did not last long …..but there was also a golden crown fruit cake full of fruit and flavour topped with almonds a bit like the traditional Christmas cake.
To finish off the hamper treats there was a box of ace tea of London with 15 tea bags or stockings. As it says on the box, a rich peppery and robust flavour,or if you are not a tea drinker and prefer coffee there is even a breakfast ground coffee from the Edinburgh tea and coffee company to round the day or evening off nicely.
A really nice and lovely surprise for the dad in your life …or woman or as i said stepdads , or grandads , birthdays , anniversary’s , just a little bit different if you get stuck for ideas , the company have lots of different hampers to suit everyone on their web site. Just look for “ Hamper company “ there’s lots to choose from and price ranges to suit all pockets .. The hampers would also make a great picnic surprise. Just add some french stick and wine to this Gentleman’s tea hamper. I shall be buying more hampers in the future for those people who are hard to buy for. The hampers are sent out on free next day delivery which is great if you have forgotten a birthday. They also do hampers for Christmas and other special occasion. They have fantastic reviews. The company has been established since 1979 and are located in Oxfordshire. Give them a try. You are sure to enjoy one of their many different hampers. (Editor’s note – this is the reviewer’s opinion)
