When I received the box containing these Meg Rivers lemon and ginger cookies from Moonpig, I opened them up straightaway – nobody can resist cookies, right?
Inside the Moonpig outer box I found a well bubble wrapped cute cookie tin. Even without the cookies, the tin would be a brilliant gift for anybody who loves that kind of thing for their kitchen. Upon opening the tin (which opened with ease unlike other cookie tins that I’ve had) instantly I smelt the aroma of the ginger and lemon cookies, which were wrapped in beautiful printed paper which really brings the product together.
When I went to pick a cookie I found that there wasn’t anything to tell me which were the ginger, and which were the lemon cookies. However, it didn’t take long at all to discover which was which! As I bit into the darker of the cookies, I found that it was ginger. The flavours were perfectly balanced, and while they were quite strongly ginger flavoured it was not overpowering. I could tell that these cookies were fresh, as soon as I took the first bite they were so crunchy and delicious.
When moving on to the paler coloured lemon cookies I was a little hesitant to move away from the ginger cookies, as I’m not usually a huge fan of lemon flavoured things. However, again these had the perfect combination of flavours, texture and scent which together made for a yummy treat.
Overall I would definitely recommend these to my friends and family as a perfect gift to send to someone special or as a perfect gift for Mother’s Day. The price is perfect for the amount of cookies that you receive, and also the gorgeous tin that can be used time and time again.
