On arrival the restaurant looked impressive with plenty of parking spaces out front. Inside the restaurant was spacious and clean and we were greeted on arrival by friendly staff and quickly shown to our table. The manageress was really friendly and not put off at all by our last minute additional guest – my eldest son who had an unexpected day off work.
We were given the lunchtime menus and our drinks orders were taken quickly by a friendly and helpful waiter.
The restaurant was busy for mid-week and the atmosphere was really lovely. From where we were sat we could see across the restaurant, including into the kitchen, which looked busy but organised.
The lunchtime menu was impressive and there seemed to be something for everyone and the children’s menu was equally good with a different option for my older child (age 11) which was a welcome touch as he chose bbq ribs, something not usually found on a kids menu! The new addition of a 40 minute express menu seemed to be a great pull for local office staff and families.
Drinks were served quickly and our orders taken. The kids were given activity packs and pencils to keep them entertained which they seemed to enjoy.
Our starters arrived and they looked and smelt delicious. The chicken goujons were tender and juicy with a tasty delicate batter and went down a treat! Bacon and cheese potato skins were also lovely but we were served bruschetta instead of another portion of skins with goats cheese. The waiter dealt with this really swiftly though, and within minutes the right starter was served. Empty plates all round reflected how good we all thought the starters were!
The table was cleared swiftly and we chatted to our waiter which was lovely. More drinks were ordered and served with a smile!
I took a trip to the ladies to check out the amenities and was impressed by the cleanliness and was told by my son that the gents were equally as clean.
Our mains were served within 10/15 minutes of finishing our starters which was a good amount of time for us.
Three adult meals were a decent size, two burgers and a salted beef bagel all with chips and salad. The salted beef bagel was lovely!! The sauce and pickles were particularly tasty and the side of fries meant the meal was really filling and excellent value for money. The burgers were equally tasty and filling – although a bit on the large side for my mum who could only manage half!!
The kids meals were great. My 5 year old ordered pizza and chips and was thrilled with it! She said the pizza was yummy and there was too many chips as she was full on pizza! No going hungry here! My 11 year old ordered ribs, fries and salad from the junior menu and said the ribs were tasty and juicy and with the salad and fries he was really full up!!
We were all really pleased with our lunch and agreed the portions were big!! The adults all passed on the offer of a dessert and had a coffee instead – which was absolutely lovely with caramel syrup!! Not to refuse an offer of pudding, the kids ordered the new Ice Cream Candy Shop. When it arrived their eyes lit up (so did the adults!!). A wooden crate full of goodies was laid down before them. It contained a lovely bowl of ice cream surrounded by mini milk bottles filled with different sweets including jelly tots, Smarties and chocolate coated crispies. There was also popping candy, white chocolate buttons and a mini jug of warm chocolate sauce.
The presentation of the Ice Cream Candy Shop was brilliant and the kids said it was really tasty too! It was fun and unusual and a great talking point for the children. The popping candy was a hit!!!
Overall our afternoon at Frankie & Benny’s was lovely. Good, reasonable priced food, great service and a lovely atmosphere. The Ice Cream Candy Shop is a fantastic and fun feature and we would highly recommend this place to everyone!!
