Frankie & Benny’s Stevenage Review

Reviewed by Becky Speller

I was lucky enough to be picked to review Frankie & Benny’s restaurant in Stevenage, and was given vouchers to enjoy a meal at our leisure. I visited the restaurant on a Saturday afternoon with my partner, son and friend’s son aged 7 & 8 years old.

As we were also going to see a film we popped in and booked a table for 4.30pm. After the film it was only 3.30pm, so we went into the restaurant and asked if we could be seated any earlier. Despite being busy we were seated straight away and our drinks order taken.

The restaurant itself is set out like an American diner with a lovely bar area, and a real ‘retro’ feel. The music is varied and they played some real golden oldies.

The drinks arrived really quickly and the waiter was ready to take our order, he was very attentive without being over the top and gave us as much time as we needed to study the menu. My partner had a starter which arrived really quickly, and once he had finished our mains were bought out promptly. They bought out the wrong meal for one of the boys but this was rectified really quickly with no hassle.

The food itself was delicious and just the right size. The kid’s meals were £7.25 each but this included unlimited drinks and a pudding as well, which we thought was good value for money. We also had puddings which were fantastic, all the food was freshly prepared and nice and hot.

The restaurant itself was packed out and while we were there were many birthday celebrations. Each time a birthday cake came out, it was accompanied by Sketch the dog who came and danced with the birthday child. The boys loved it and wanted to join in the party atmosphere.

Despite being so busy the service we received was first class. The staff were well turned out, polite and could not do enough for us. Nothing was too much trouble and at no point did we feel rushed.

Well done Frankie & Benny’s on providing a lovely atmosphere and fantastic food. We will definitely be coming again. We give it 5/5 rating but worth so much more.
