Chaiholics Cardiff Review

It’s a typical Welsh day, the rain is hammering down and a gale is blowing outside. These are the days I like to wrap up warm under a blanket with a cup of tea. But today is different, afternoon tea at Chaiholics is calling.
My friend and I rock up at 1:30 and are greeted by really friendly and enthusiastic staff. They sit us down and talk us through the different types of Chai tea that they do, going through the different blends and flavours. We pick the truck stop blend which smelled really divine.
The ambience of the place reminds me of a chic canteen but yet still cosy at the same time. It’s rustic, but clean and stylish, different from other local coffee venues.
After about 10 minutes or so our afternoon tea was brought out. It was refreshingly different from the afternoon tea’s I’ve had before. The bottom layer had your typical finger sandwiches, one was filled with cheese and chilli jam, and the other cucumber. To accompany them was also a selection of vegetable samosas with dips, yummy!
On the middle layer was a lovely selection of cakes, tarts and cheesecake with fresh fruit, all totally delectable. On the top, 2 lovely scones with strawberry jam and fresh clotted cream that was so light and airy.
The afternoon tea came to £15.00 altogether, which compares well with other afternoon tea’s I’ve had across the city. I really liked the different take on it. It’s always refreshing to see people challenging the norm and thinking outside the box.
I really enjoyed Chaiholics and will definitely be heading back there, I think next time I’ll be sampling a pot of tea or their strawberry lassi.
