My little one is a big fan of Connetix and is always building and creating with the ones we have. One of his favourite things to make are car ports and garages so we were excited to try the transport pack and make some trucks and cars.
Connetix are magnetic tiles and great for little ones to create and use their imagination, they are great for supporting the development of children’s fine motor skills as well as for cognitive development getting them to think about problem solving whilst constructing their designs. Children can build 2D or 3D creations and it also makes a great sensory toy as you can see, and the connecting of the magnetic tiles makes a great fidget toy. The scope for creativity is huge and allows them to concentrate in various periods of time.
The transport pack consists of 50 Pieces and includes the tiles as well as 1 train/truck base and 2 car bases, these all have rubber wheels attached.
We used it alongside our other Connetix tiles as well as some other makes we have. The Pastel colours were nice and made a nice contrast against our previous ones. We had great fun being able to expand and build more trucks and vehicles with the bases that came with this pack. We created a whole village and then made trucks to carry the passengers and food to our village. It is really great for the children’s imagination and has endless possibilities of things to make. The booklet that came with it gave some extra ideas but my little one is not ready yet to follow it, I did build an airplane for him and enjoyed carting around some characters in it and pretend they were going on holiday.
All tiles are made using non-toxic ABS plastic that is BPA and Phthalate free, ultrasonically sealed and riveted for extra safety. They can be purchased from various retailers and there are many different variety packs now available, they are also compatible with other brands. The tiles are sturdy and made of good quality plastic.
There are many different expansion packs and they vary in price. These ones were a little more expensive for the amount you got in the pack. The prices range from £20 to £200 depending on the size of the pack. Mine was gifted from Connetix for the purpose of this review and for me comes in a little pricey at £65.00 for a 50 piece set, this is not a price I would pay for a small set.
They store nice and easily and can be stacked neatly in the box, we have our other ones stored in a plastic storage box and they go everywhere with us, we also have some mini sets for when out and about and we need an activity to keep my little one occupied.
You can start your Connetix journey with a small set and expand as you go. They are definitely highly priced compared to other brands out there. I didn’t feel they were any different to the ones we already have quality wise.
