As huge foodies my husband and I were delighted to be asked to review Foodies Festival Brighton, which was the first event of 13 being held around the UK this summer. I have never been to a food festival so I was very urge to go and explore.

We decided to visit on the Monday which was the last day of the event in Brighton, it was held on Hove Lawns which is along the seafront and easily accessible by bus and train with plenty of car parking in the town centre. The event is cash only so you need to remember to take cash but there are cash machines on site if you do happen to forget.

The day was a little gloomy when we arrived but my husband was excited by all the smells!

Check in was very easy and relaxed and walking in there was so much to do and see but the first thing to catch my eye was a London bus being used as a beer bar which I thought was quirky and very cool, even though I am not a drinker it was so clever and made me want to climb aboard for a drink!

I worried there wouldn’t be as much to do as it was the last day and it might be less busy, I was very wrong! The place was packed and it was so lovely to see so many young families and children there and involved, we walked past the children’s cookery theatre as they were making party penwheels and it was so lovely to see the children so engaged in an activity which was aware from toys and computers!

I loved all the stalls but being a vegetarian I did find some of the meat stalls a little difficult to handle but there was plenty for me to eat and I had some lovely Chinese noodles and my husband who is a meat eater had some pulled pork from one of the tents which he commented was delicious.

We also have some beautiful ice cream and my husband brought some JD fudge which he was very pleased with from Forever Fudge I loved trying all the different cheeses on offer on the stalls but the Snowdonia Cheese stalls was my favourite!

My husband also loved all the beer tents and testing them all out for my benefit of course to aid with my review! And we loved seeing some many local businesses there being given a platform to shine and be seen as Brighton and Hove are filled with so many amazing and delightful places to eat and by food.

There was a large range of talks and demonstrations, lovely all things Spanish I loved the talk in the Drinks Theatre Spain around the regions which was very informative and we loved the cake theatre the Urban bee keeping was very unusual but so interesting but being a huge fan of cheese, the cheese tasting was my favourite tasting event!

I also thought the entertainment stage was a good idea, lovely music and lovely food mixed together can never be a bad idea and we had a wonderful afternoon filling our bellies and our souls!

I liked the idea the venue give stage to bands who were not signed and local, what a clever idea to give them a platform and so nice to hear something you may never have heard before whilst trying delights you may never have tasted, what a clever idea!

With so much today all day, there is never a dull moment and it is so worth the ticket price as there is so much to do and see, plus so many bands it is like being at a music festival as well as a food one! We had such a wonderful day out and saw many people we knew which was so nice to spend a day together in a special place. I also really liked the programme we were given which cost £4 but had some many food ideas and recipes in it was well worth the money, it also told you where everything was and when it was on.

We will be visiting another food festival soon and you should visit your local one when it comes to town you will not be disappointed!
