Carl Fogarty, former World Superbike champion and King of the Jungle, has teamed up with his mate and former British champion James Whitham for his 2015 tour titled Foggy and Whit, The King and I.

We really weren’t sure what to expect… neither of us are motorcycling fans and whilst we have watched previous I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here shows we didn’t see much of last year when Carl was crowned King of the Jungle, however the write up on Preston’s Guild Hall website promised a hilarious night out so we hoped we wouldn’t be disappointed.

An accident on the motorway meant the road into Preston was very busy but being familiar with the surrounding roads meant that we still made it on time! When we arrived we found the large bar area full and there was a really good atmosphere. A local children’s charity were selling raffle tickets for prizes that Foggy and Whit had donated and it was really nice to see everyone supporting them. I’m not sure if this is something that they do at every show or if it was just because Carl is a local lad but it was great publicity for the charity and they raised over £2,000 which was very impressive.

Preston Guild Hall is a large entertainment venue in the city centre, adjacent to Preston’s famous bus station, there is a covered walkway from the car park to the Guild Hall so you don’t need to worry about getting wet and parking cost us £3.50. The Guild Hall Arcade is currently undergoing a makeover and will soon host an eclectic mix of retailers and authentic dining which will add to the theatre going experience. I am really looking forward to seeing the arcade revitalised and trying the new restaurants. The Guild Hall is an impressive place and can seat over 2000 people with tiered seating around the edge of the hall with a large floor area full of chairs. These seats are not tiered so the view wasn’t as good as in a theatre but as we were watching effectively a chat show it really didn’t matter.

Foggy and Whit took to the stage introduced by Andy, our host for the evening. The format of the show was much like a TV interview with Andy asking questions and then letting Carl and James expand the topic.  The first hour was taken up largely with Carl’s experience as a contestant in I’m a Celebrity last year which he went on to win. It was really interesting hearing what goes on behind the scenes and a little of what happened in the jungle that wasn’t shown on TV. Foggy and Whit have been friends for many years and they have a fantastic rapport and the banter between them makes for a hilarious night out. The first half of the show was as structured as it could be with Foggy and Whit on stage whereas the second half was more unplanned as the audience were invited to tweet questions for Foggy and Whit. A large screen was used to display these tweets with Andy selecting some of them to put to the lads. Obviously the majority of the audience were fans of motorcycling and the tweets were mainly about the motorcycling world so much of the discussion was about their time spent around race track and their thoughts about other people involved in the sport. Not being bike fans there was a danger that we would not enjoy this bit but as it happened the pair were so entertaining it didn’t really matter that we didn’t know who they were actually talking about!

This show is definitely for adults, there was a lot of swearing and adult content but if this doesn’t bother you then it is definitely worth seeing this show. We had a fantastic night out despite not knowing anything about motorbikes!
