Jersey Boys Milton Keynes Wednesday 23rd February. Let’s be cheesy … oh what a night!
You surely know the story? If you don’t the quick version is it’s the story of the Four Seasons which begins in New Jersey New York back in the 1960s.
Surely the Jersey Boys Show is the bench mark of all musicals, the story, the show itself, the soundtrack make for the ideal ingredients for the best night out. Jersey Boys is the true life story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Often billed as four guys four stories, I think it’s an unforgettable journey of four ordinary guys to superstardom.
The show bursts open with Oh What a Night sang in French, yes in French, hip hop style and bang on up to date. You my friend, who was the lead singer are awesome, you have several roles throughout the show and your sassy fantastic voice and presence where amazing. What an opening number, you could tell the packed Milton Keynes Theatre were in, hooked from the off.
I’m gonna be honest, Jersey Boys was my first ever show, so I have a soft spot. I love it all, the music the era, the story, the personalities of the group, it doesn’t matter where or when I see it, I love it. Tonight was no different. Tonight though I felt a new emotion, I felt humble. Humble to witness the emotion and undoubtedly fantastic performance of Michael Pickering. His performance of Can’t take my eyes off of you was incredibly emotional, well done.
That said as a whole cast you were all flipping amazing. It’s a show with so much going for it, none of you disappointed. In fact I spent a lot of time with my eyes on Blair Gibson aka Bob Gaudio, he’s a truly handsome young man! Not gonna lie, he is some serious eye candy ladies. It’s show stopping right from the start and the vocals right the way though are incredible. All your favourite tracks are in there, personal standouts for tonight were Big Girls don’t Cry, Walk like a Man, my eyes adored You, Bye bye baby, Can’t take my Eyes of You and of course Who Loves You.
If a show with big show stopping numbers a story an amazing cast and of course all the glitz and glamour of the 60s is what you enjoy then Jersey Boys is for you. There are a few choice adult words, so maybe not for the kids, but throughout the show, you can’t help but be caught in the times, the story and personal circumstance of all the group. It’s a well told story, easy to follow and hard not to become emotional. These guys lived the dream but also paid heavily in their personal lives.
Loved loved loved some of the outfits and super jealous of the sparkly dresses some of the ladies wore, you were all super incredible tonight and I for one had the best night out in a long time. You all very much deserved the standing ovation. As always Jersey Boys you left us begging for more. Can’t wait until we see you again!
