We are big yogurt fans in our house, with a shelf full in the fridge most of the time, so we were really excited to get the opportunity to try out and review the EasiYo Yogurt Maker and make our very own yogurt in the comfort of our own home.

We didn’t have to wait long for the EasiYo yogurt maker to arrive. It was delivered in a large plastic bag but unfortunately the box had been damaged in the post. I would have expected it to have been packaged in an outer box or wrapped in some bubble wrap, to ensure that it arrived in a better condition.

Inside the bag I found a limited edition EasiYo Plum Yogurt maker, an EasiYo Cookbook, an EasiYo Fresh Yogurt Greek style – natural unsweetened yogurt base and an EasiYo Fresh Yogurt Greek Style – vanilla and plum flavour yogurt base.

I love the colour of the yogurt maker, it came in the limited edition ‘plum’ colour and was really lovely. Coincidentally, our kitchen is a purple colour, so it accessorised perfectly. The yogurt maker also comes in red and black, but the plum colour would have been my preferred choice, so it was great that I received this one.

Inside the yogurt maker, I found a reusable plastic jar, which holds 1kg of yogurt and a temperature strip to stick on the side of the jar. I gave these a wash out, ready to get going with making our yogurt.

The process to make the yogurt was really straightforward, all I had to do was fill the jar half way up (to the handily marked line on the side of the jar), with room temperature water. The temperature strip on the jar assisted with making sure the water was between the required 15-20ºC. Then I mixed in the yogurt base sachet, popped the lid on and gave it a really good shake. I topped up the water to 5mm below the top of the jar, secured the lid in place and gave it another good shake to ensure it was mixed well. Then placed it inside the yogurt maker, on top of the little red stand. Filled the yogurt maker with boiling water, to the required level, screwed the lid on and left it overnight (each flavour needs between 8-12 hours to do it’s thing). As easy as that!

Early the next morning, I opened the yogurt maker, took the jar out and gave it a quick dry before sticking it in the fridge for a couple of hours (not before I took a sneak peek to check that it had set ok, it looked great).

I couldn’t wait to have a taste, so in the spoon went…I was certainly not disappointed, it was absolutely delicious, perfectly creamy and very, very moreish! It was so much better than I had expected it to taste and I was very pleasantly surprised.

I loved how simple the process was and didn’t involve any electricity, so you can use it wherever you want in the kitchen.

There is a brilliant selection of different flavoured yogurt base sachets available at https://uk.easiyo.com/collections/yogurt-sachets ranging in price between £3.20 and £3.60. I’m already eyeing up which flavours to try next. Even better, they contain no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. These would be great to have in the cupboard for those just in case moments, when you run out of fresh yogurt.

Information on the EasiYo website states that you can keep the yogurt in the fridge for between one and two weeks, depending on the ingredients. Details relating to storage for specific flavours can be found on the sachet.

The yogurt maker has an RRP of £20, which I think is pretty good value for money. The EasiYo cookbook has an RRP of £10, which I think is a bit steep for the size of the book you get; it contains 20 sweet and savoury recipes. However, there are some free recipes on the website. I think the RRP of the yogurt sachets is pretty reasonable in comparison to other comparable brands in the supermarkets, as the sachet makes 1kg of yogurt at a time.

I think the yogurt maker would make an ideal gift for anyone who enjoys the satisfaction of making homemade produce and would be perfect for upcoming Mother’s Day.
