I decided to get this item for my 3 year old granddaughter who currently loves all sorts of imaginative play, all things pink and she is beginning to be interested in princesses and loves to watch Disney. Once we had opened it – the packaging was quite tricky to get into – she was very interested to see what was in the box and what it did.
Included in the package is an espresso coffee maker which makes frothing sounds and has lights at the push of a button. It also has a dial to pretend to froth the milk. The machine is pink and has pictures of Disney princesses and crowns on the various pieces – perfect for small children. Also included is a sturdy takeaway style coffee cup with a lid, two espresso pods, a small jug and a stirrer. It was a nice touch that the batteries were included so my granddaughter didn’t have to wait for us to find some and fit them. The batteries required are 3 triple A.
This item is perfect for any child who loves role play and imaginative play. The recommended age on the box is 3 plus.
My granddaughter spent ages asking everybody in the room if they wanted a coffee and then progressed to her running a whole café with menus and food. She got very involved using other items for sugar pots etc., using the milk to say “would you like milk?” When someone asked if they could have a cappuccino she said “Sorry we only do coffee here” – we then explained there were lots of different types of coffee. – never too early to know about coffee!! The next day she went straight to it so all of us and two friends staying with us had to drink numerous cups of coffee – even chicken coffee!! She used all of the accessories in the proper way and once she had been shown a couple of times how to insert the pods into the machine she loved doing this. Her dollies and teddies were also given the coffee and cake treatment – a perfect tea / coffee party.
It is a perfect item as an addition to a child’s role play items and can be used alongside a kitchen, play food, cakes, cutlery, pots and pans to enable a full on café or home kitchen experience.
The item is made of plastic but seemed to be reasonably strong although I’m not sure if it would stand up to a child who plays more roughly. It was packed very well – maybe too much plastic packaging and some of the bits were very difficult to get out – not easy with a toddler waiting to play.
This coffee machine retails between £18 and £25 – the lower price being a reasonable amount to pay.
I would recommend this item for any child who loves role play and to play pretend. The sound effects are great.
Cost – £17.99 – £24.99
