Deadly Annual 2015 by Steve Backshall Review

Reviewed by Cath Ford

In our house Steve Backshall is referred to as Steve Factual and my son is mad keen on anything Steve produces – I’ve lost count of the number of times we’ve watched his programmes and thanks to him I know more about lemurs than I ever thought possible.

My son is 8 and loved this book from cover to cover, he said it was clearly laid out with different sections for various habitats there are plenty of useful facts on each one.

The photography is clear and enhances the text well and as always with anything I’ve had from the Deadly 60 brand the information presented is interesting and engaging for young wildlife lovers, there’s also a quiz at the end of each section which my son enjoyed.

The sections of the book cover deserts, mountains, oceans, forests and rainforests and the readers are invited on every step of the way in Steve’s usual energetic style. The result is a great read and a great investment for children in my opinion. I do find the brand to be consistently good with new information each time.

I recommend this book very highly for any child, and if it’s anything like the rest of his Deadly 60 annuals, our son will be absorbed in it for quite some time to come.
