I was very lucky to have been chosen to review Cinderella at my local theatre, The Grove situated in Dunstable last night.
Upon entering the foyer there was an instant buzz of excitement in the air. We had as usual a great view from our seats and upon taking them felt the excitement in the auditorium which was very full. It was with great pleasure to review our local pantomime Cinderella.
Everyone knows the story of Cinderella, but last nights’ show wasn’t the usual typical traditional pantomime, I will not go in to detail as wouldn’t want to spoil your entertainment. The traditional fairytale was retold with a very modern twist and was quite spectacular in every way. The entire cast was very cleverly put together and consisted of Lucy Reed beautifully playing Cinderella. The two ugly sisters were Leslie Grantham (known to most as Dirty Den) and Joshua Pascoe who were hysterical throughout the entire show. Buttons was played extremely well by Mawaan Rizwan. Prince Charming starred the handsome Antony Costa from the boy band Blue and the Fairy Godmother was Jasette Amos who was her usual bubbly self. The show was produced by Magic Bean Productions with Associate Director Leslie Grantham. The cast wore stunning costumes and there were definitely plenty of laughs which is what you would expect at a typical panto, the whole audience was in stiches throughout the evening. The sets were also put together really well and no money spared.
You must definitely go and watch this pantomime, you will not be disappointed and will be guaranteed lots of laughter. The fabulous five piece band should definitely deserve a mention too. Hurry up and book, great entertainment for the whole family young and old. The dancing throughout was breath-taking and very well-choreographed, a big well done to all the performers who were all beaming with smiles and very proud to be on the stage. All in all a great panto to get you in the festive mood with lots of ooing and ahhing.
