With Easter coming up, like many parents I have been on the hunt for suitable themed outfits for my little ones. Being allocated the Easter chick costume from Very was therefore perfect and I looked forward to seeing my little boy in it.
The costume item arrived in simple sufficient packaging with the plastic packaging protecting the costume is recyclable (and also has popper so can be used as a bag to store the outfit if needed). Unfortunately, this internal bag and card insert were a little battered which didn’t affect the costume however, I would have been disappointed if I had bought this for or received as a gift. As I opened it, it was clear this was a well made costume; the fabric is beautifully soft and unlike a lot of fancy dress costumes, doesn’t feel scratchy or look tacky in the slightest. The item includes a full head to toe outfit, with chick head piece, body suit or tabard, and yellow leggings. The outfit is in such a warm bright yellow and very appealing to boys and girls alike (which is great to allow others to wear it in the future). I was most impressed with the main body part of the outfit which is padded around the tummy to create the rounded shape of a chick. The detailing of the chick’s face is sewn on and additional felt pieces are attached for the feet and some feathers. Wings come out of the side which my little boy loved to ‘flap around’ as a chick which certainly provided some entertainment. The main body and head piece are fastened together with velcro which is perfect to get the outfit on and then off again quickly and easily.
The outfit is available in sizes from 1 year to 6 years which is a good range (I noticed in the description on the website it does say it goes up to 8 year however there isn’t an option to then order this size so I am not sure if it is available). I would have loved to have seen the sizes even smaller to allow me to purchase one for my daughter who is under 1 as I think there is nothing cuter than matching siblings on these occasions. The sizing (mine was 2-3) seemed about right and the elastic waistband gives more flexibility for varying waists and can also allow the trousers to be rolled up slightly if needed.
The outfit is made from 100% polyester which is surprising even how soft it feels. The outfit is machine washable at 30 degrees which is great and allows you to watch your children to play until their heart is content knowing you can pop it in the wash to give it a proper clean once they are done.
It is perfect timing to order to use on your Easter egg hunt to create the cutest photos. A little more expensive that many high street options but the quality does feel much nicer. I think it would also be great as an alternative Easter gift or just to add to your fancy dress collection for general play or other events such as world book day or school plays.
