Chicco Baby Hug 4 In 1 Review

Reviewed by Joanna Woodburn

It was an absolute pleasure to review the award winning Chicco Baby Hug 4-in-1, which is designed to take babies from birth to 3 years. The Chicco Baby Hug 4-in-1 is very cleverly a crib, recliner, high chair and seat – all in one! This innovative product will particularly appeal to parents short of space and for any parents planning to use the Baby Hug for all four functions, the Baby Hug will be a money saver.

The Baby Hug’s build quality is impressive and the combination of different uses has not compromised the usual Chicco high standards. The Baby Hug is designed to start off being used as a crib from birth and/or a reclined seat from birth to 6 months. Once baby can sit upright, at around 6 months, the Baby Hug can then be adjusted to be a high chair

We found the Baby Hug to be strong and sturdy and particularly liked the clickable assembly design, which meant no tools were needed to put it together. The removable cover also zips on and off which makes the Baby Hug easy to clean. With the usual Chicco attention to detail, the electronic toy bar is a great, fun feature, with different light and music settings – soft and sleepy and more lively and energetic as well as lovely hanging animal toys.

The crib feature comes with a thin mattress, although there is a thicker mattress and also sheets which can be bought separately. The crib has a lovely snug, cocooning shape and we particularly liked the fact that the crib has infinite different height settings, which could be helpful in so many ways. For any mum who has had a C-section and needs to avoid bending, for keeping baby out of reach for safety reasons or for finding the best height for eye contact, the Baby Hug works perfectly.

We also loved the Baby Hug as a raised recliner and the ability to roll baby in the recliner mode is very welcome – no need to disturb napping baby! As a recliner, the Baby Hug has a 4-position backrest and a soft padded reducer.

The Baby Hug is designed to be used as a high chair from around 6 to 36 months. Although it is rather a shame that a tray needs to be bought separately, the highchair mode can be adjusted to table height, which means that little ones can sit at and use the family table, which makes for more enjoyable mealtimes.

The mode of the Baby Hug can also be changed to be a first seat for use from 6 to 36 months. As a first seat, the Baby Hug is robust and most comfortable for baby, with straps for added safety. We found it very easy to elevate and recline the seat by using the neat foot switch on the base and the clasp at the top. As the Baby Hug is on coasters, with a brake safety feature, it can be rolled around – great for when baby is asleep in the seat.

With so many features and functions, the Chicco Baby Hug 4-in-1 is highly recommended. It can meet the needs of baby from birth to 3 years, and offers a unique space-saving and cost effective solution for parents.
