Casdon Joseph Joseph range for children aged three years upwards. I don’t know about your young children but our grandchildren are so independent and want to do everything themselves, especially on Nanny Day Care days when we bake a cake. They are super independent and think they can do all the things that make you cringe and think they might hurt themselves or your equipment and utensils.

So I have been on the look out for a kitchen that will not just be for playing make believe but that will grow with them and enable them to pick up skills for life. The Casdon range is an amazing find and a great asset for children aged three years and over.

The Bake essential baking set comes complete with mini rolling pin, measuring cups, large mixing bowl, whisk and egg spatula. They are ideal for little hands and perfect for my three and four year old grandchildren. They come in a range of bright coloured plastics and are a great introduction to baking. All the sizes mean small people are capable of mixing some of their own pancake mixture in the bowl, or rolling some pastry out they were delighted, and thought they were better than Nannie’s cooking tools. A great complement to this set was the Nest compact food preparation set. This consisted of five interlocking measuring cups with a medium mixing bowl, sieve and colander. Much used during our cake and pancake session, this meant they had plenty of options for all the ingredients and let me tell you they used everything!

This leads nicely on to the wash and scrub cleaning set. The colour changing bowl complete with plug is the perfect size for their cooking utensils, and teaches them, they have to also clean up after all that fun cooking. It comes with a plate and cutlery, scrubbing brush and soap bottle. My grandson also enjoyed using this set to wash his scooter and bike in the garden.

The salad serving set is my favourite. The little ones at always wanting to chop up their own cucumber or help nanny when she is getting dinner ready, so this set complete with imaginary salad chopping board knife and bowl is great. I know some people don’t agree, but teaching children that preparing food is fun, gives them great life skills, and I for one am all for it for boys and girls. This set gives hours of fun, as they chop and dice the vegetables in the pack. They had great fun in telling me they were getting the dinner ready and expecting me to sample their efforts. Again all in bright colours and very durable.

The six piece utensil set is an exact replica of the set we have in our kitchen, so they were super impressed to help dish up. We made sure peas vegetables pasta etc were already in bowls and let them use these to put a helping on their plates. It was surprising how much enjoyments they got from this and even dished up vegetables for themselves they normally don’t eat, just because they could.

All the sets seems very well made and will last for many years to come, giving hours and hours of not just play, but enjoyment in the kitchen, encouraging them to develop their own hand and cooking skills. It wasn’t just the children that enjoyed them, I enjoyed the enrichment it gave to them all not just while playing but whilst cooking and creating. A fabulous set of toys that are very reasonably priced for the quality, I would highly recommend.
