Build Your Own Unicorn Kit Review

Children believe in magic and unicorns, along with mermaids, dolphins and rainbows, they represent happiness and dreams and everything magical.
Anything with a unicorn on is always a hit with the five year old in our family, and this kit was no exception, she couldn’t wait to get the pack open and start building.
Inside the box are four sheets of brightly coloured press out pieces. All the cardboard is FSC certified made from responsibly managed forests. The model and the packaging are all completely recyclable and eco – friendly. When pressed out in total there are 28 pieces, they all slot together to make a free standing unicorn and a very cute trinket box with little accessories, no glue needed so no mess.
The box states that the build will take 20 minutes and I think this is an accurate timing, it also gives an age guide of four and above. To be honest our five year old wasn’t able to build it on her own, she loved pressing out the pieces and especially enjoyed using the little cardboard removal tool to get the smaller pieces out, but I had to help her slot all the pieces together.
This would make a good project for an older sibling to help a younger sibling with, or a little activity for all the family to join in “team work makes the dream work”. A good way to get everyone away from the screens for a while.
The finished product was adorable, the unicorn stood up very solidly on it’s own and there are a few accessories to adorn it with. We added some flowers to it’s ears and a necklace. In addition to the unicorn we built a small trinket box complete with key, this is used to hold the tiny toadstool and gem stone that we assembled and a few other little treasures. Our little girl just loved this box and has spent lots of time playing with it. She also loves putting different accessories on the unicorn and putting the others into the trinket box, this is made even more special because it has a key.
On the inside of the box there is a unicorn picture for colouring in, once you’ve done this you can turn the box inside out and your colouring is ready to hang on the wall like a framed picture.
This is such a lovely toy to give as a gift, due to it’s size and weight it would also be perfect if you have a gift you need to post.
