Brewers Fayre Clarence Pier Hampshire Review

Reviewed by Helen Warner
The location for this restaurant is ideal, it is amongst the arcades, funfair and very close to the sea. There is a pay and display car park but this does get busy on sunny days, although we did manage to find a space.
The downside to the lovely location is that there seems to be a lot of rowdy people hanging around outside smoking and drinking which does not create a great image. I know this is not something that would be easy for the restaurant to rectify though.
There is a small outdoor seating area, we did feel this seemed a little shabby and didn’t make the most of the scenery.
We (2 adults and 2 children) entered the restaurant and waited in the designated area to be seated. We waited for a considerable amount of time and felt ignored as nobody even acknowledged us. We were finally seated by a waitress whom was friendly and helpful, she explained how the menus worked regarding the chefs counter and ordering our food at the till.
We went to the till to order our food. We all chose to have carvery along with a pudding each for a small additional charge. There was soup and rolls available as a starter which was pleasant. We went to the chefs counter to get our food, there was not a queue which was good. Three of us chose the vegetarian option which was mushroom wellington and one of us chose meat. We then chose our vegetable to go with it. There was a nice selection, although it would be good to see further variety. It was a nice touch that we were given jugs of vegetarian gravy. The meal was tasty and we all enjoyed it. There was a long wait for pudding once the table was cleared. When we did receive dessert they looked lovely and they were plentiful. We all enjoyed then very much and left feeling very full.
All in all we had a lovely visit to Brewers Fayre and we would return again.
