Boots No 7 Stay Perfect Eyeshadow Trio Review

This Boots No 7 product is presented in a neat little compact, approximately 60mm x 50mm, with a clear circular “window” through which you can see the colour selection. This is extremely handy if you have several Trio’s as you would be able to quickly select the one you want rather than having to open each one up to check. There is a variety of colour combinations – 12 in all from which to choose. I selected Forest which as you can probably guess comprises 3 shades of green.

I received my selection in the post and unfortunately the middle palette had become dislodged within the compact, but the compressed eye shadow itself had not fallen out. As a result I have to open the compact carefully each time to prevent the palette shooting out.

I normally only wear 2 shades of eye shadow so this was a bit of an experiment for me. I tried using them in 3 different ways: directly on to my eyelid with no preparation, having applied moisturiser only and when I had used both moisturiser and foundation. The results were equally good in all 3 states. I used brushes initially to apply first the very pale green – this was actually almost cream and barely visible on my skin, then the mid green and finally the dark green. The dark green was in fact very dark and a small amount was quite adequate, it is better to gradually build this up to the desired intensity. I also tried applying the eye shadow using my fingers and I found this easier for both the application and blending. However both methods gave perfectly acceptable results and I did not find any powder had ended up below the eyes.

I often find that eye shadow “clumps” in the creases of the eyelid, but not so in this case. The results remained smooth and lasted for several hours without any need to touch them up. There is also a slight shimmer effect which is pleasing. The mid and dark shades would be fine to use on their own, the lighter shade is barely visible but could probably be used with combinations of other colours – browns maybe.

I found that it was easy to remove the eye shadow with normal washing or using a make-up cleansing wipe. I have not experienced any irritation to my skin after having used the product numerous times.

I would recommend this product as it offers a choice of colour combinations to create the effect you need in different situations. It comes in a neat compact which should fit easily into most handbags. I chose the greens as this is the colour I tend to use most, if purchasing more of these I would want to see them in the store as I personally found it difficult to see the colours on the website. The product description on the website says “No 7 Stay Perfect Eyeshadow Trio delivers high impact colour. Blends effortlessly and lasts for hours” and in my opinion this is exactly what it does.
