It’s starting to look a lot like Christmas… It’s the first week of December, time to decorate the house with lights and baubles. With perfect timing a box of fresh flowers is delivered from Blossoming Gifts.
The box itself was well constructed and kept the blooms intact and safe inside, they were also wrapped in transparent plastic and hand tied with a black ribbon, perfect for you to gift immediately. The stems were enclosed in a waterproof wrapping that is cleverly designed to keep the moisture in, so the flowers do not go thirsty during transit.
Christmas flowers are priced from £23.99, the latest date to place an order is 23/12/19 and delivery is extra, £4.99 for standard tracked or £6.99 for standard tracked +, although it is unclear of what the benefit of paying for the later would be? You can also add a gift to your order ranging from a varied selection, i.e. £2.99 for a small box of chocolates to a bottle of red or white wine for an additional £14.99. Also included is a standard gift card, for your own personalised message for a maximum of 250 characters or you can upgrade this to include a card to befit the occasion, Christmas, birthday, new baby, in sympathy or to “say I love you.”
My bouquet is called Cinnamon Spice, priced from £29.99 plus the delivery charge, it is a vibrant burst of red flowers with an abundance of green foliage and pops of red berries, spears of red foliage and wrapped cinnamon sticks on wooden skewers, which smell divine.
The flowers include three red carnations, three red gerberas and three red roses. The foliage is varied including eucalyptus and other evergreens.
Also included is a sachet of flower food and a flower care instructions leaflet with tips to prolong the life of the flowers. Once you’ve added the flower food to cold water in the vase, the advice is to cut 2-3cm off the end of each stem and to re-cut them again after 2 to 3 days, this is said to re-fresh the display, also to replace the water.
On the box they guarantee 7 day freshness, I was a little concerned that the roses were quite open already so they may not last as long as the other flowers, the stems of the roses did also have a few of the thorns remaining and I would have expected them to have been stripped smooth before delivery, in the flower care instructions they advise you to remove any discoloured guard petals from the roses, which I did but if I had removed all of the imperfect petals this may have ruined the display. Whilst I was happy overall with the quality of the Bouquet I did feel that the roses, which in my opinion should be the stars of the show, let it down somewhat.
I would recommend Blossoming Gifts to someone who is short on time or wants the convenience of an online order and delivery, who needs to organise a gift to be sent to a loved one. For me the overall cost is a little steep, as most good supermarkets have quality bouquets at a lower price. For that reason I will rate 4/5.
RRP: from £23.99
