I’ve always been interested in getting some LED candles. Before I had children I used to light candles regularly but haven’t since having the children, as I don’t want to have naked flames around them where they have the potential to knock them over or decide to ‘experiment’ with them!

They arrived in a cardboard box, with the items well packed in shaped foam that the candles and remote were fitted in to, meaning they arrived in perfect condition.

These candles, although battery operated, are in glass pillar cases and have real, cream coloured, wax inside them. When lit, they look realistic as they have an option to have a flickering light. The cream plastic covered LED light looks less realistic when the light is switched off, although the grey glass partially hides this. I like that they come with a remote control to adjust them. The remote allows you to switch them on and off, set a timer for how long they stay on for (2,4, 6 or 8 hours), to have them as either a candle or a light function and have multiple adjustable brightness levels. Each candle takes 3 standard AAA batteries. Being battery operated they don’t give off any heat either, so can be placed directly on any surface without the risk of leaving a mark.

My lounge is grey and purple so the grey glass version that I was sent fits in perfectly with my colour scheme, as you can see in the photos. They’re also nice to have in the bathroom as ‘mood lighting’ for ambience when having a soak in the bath.

All the candles are 7.5cms wide and they are 11, 14 and 16.5cms high, which means that they look like normal sized candles and also sit nicely as a cluster together, all at staggered heights, or can be separated and used individually. It should be noted that these come with one remote for the three candles, which works on all three simultaneously when they’re together.

The Black QUBD website is really easy to navigate. They offer an assortment of home items, including a wide range of candles and ornaments. They state that they are the ‘Home of Eastern Inspired Gifts’. They have some beautifully coloured metal bowls for kitchen use and some real statement pieces. A big plus for me is that they offer free delivery on all orders, while also offering reasonably priced items.

These would make a great mother’s day gift, or gift for another occasion, if being bought to wrap them before passing them on. Otherwise, the box they were delivered in said what the contents were with a delivery sticker stuck on the box, so wouldn’t be ideal to send directly as a gift. It might be worth them looking in to offering a gift wrapping/packaging service to allow for items to be sent directly from them, ready wrapped as gifts to others, as I’d class many of the items they sell as items I’d buy as a gift for someone else rather than for myself. I’ll definitely be looking at their website again when looking for gifts.

Rating: I rate the candles a 4/5

RRP: is £26 and they can be bought from Black QUBD here for £26 (remember that this is the final price due to free delivery too)
