This is such a sweet and gentle story that teaches our children the importance of kindness, friendship, and helping others. It is a lovely book for young readers and also great for parents or teachers to read aloud. The story is easy to read and follow, full of heart, and it leaves a lovely strong message that caring for others can make a big a really big difference.

The main character is a rabbit named Baxter. Unlike all the other animals in the forest, Baxter is very different to them. He is quiet, thoughtful, and is always looking out for others. While many of the animals in the forest are busy getting on with their own lives, Baxter notices someone needs help. He is so lovely as he offers a kind word, shares his food, or just listens when someone is feeling sad. It all these small actions that show just how caring he is, and soon, other animals begin to see how special he is too.

The story takes place in a beautiful and lovely calm forest setting. The way Michelle Dawn Sullivan describes it; really does help the reader / story teller and those listening, feel like they really are right there, in the forest with Baxter. The forest is described in such a way that it feels peaceful and safe, which matches the warm feeling of the story. There is no big danger or scary moment, this is a book about everyday acts of kindness, not about adventure or drama. This is what I loved especially as it makes it so comforting to read and listen to.

One of the best things about this book is the way it shows how one small rabbit can change the world around him just by being kind. Baxter does not try to be a hero or look for attention. He simply does what he thinks is right. I really do love the act of kindness that is depicted in this story. When Baxter sees a hedgehog who is lonely, he keeps them company. When a bird hurts its wing, he helps it rest. It is beautiful and sentimental and shows just how moments may seem small, but they have a big effect on the other animals.

I really love the sections in the book where it asks questions. It gets children to think and interact and really be part of the story, learning about kindness etc. Here is a couple of examples:-

1. Do you have pet or know someone who does? What does your pet need to survive?
2. What is a living thing? (People, rabbit, cat, elephant, plants, trees, etc.

Michelle Dawn Sullivan writes in a way that is easy to understand. Her words are very simple, without losing the concept of the intentions of Baxter as they carry emotion and meaning. Children will be able to follow the story very easily and adults will also enjoy the calm and gentle style of writing and how it reads. It is a book that feels very relaxing and peaceful to read, just imagine you have Baxter sitting on your shoulder, or popping up in times of need or troubles and he whispers, ‘you will be ok’. It is so sweet.

The pictures in the book are also very beautiful. They are soft and full of warm colours, which match the mood of the story. The pictures help bring the characters to life, especially Baxter the rabbit. His kind eyes and lovely gentle smile really does make it easy for children to connect with him. The forest looks stunningly beautiful, friendly and full of small details that children will enjoy looking at.

There is no nastiness or villains in this book which is nice. It is a very quiet and relaxing story that shows how small gestures of kindness, help and support really can help others from being kind every day. It teaches children that they do not have to be loud or strong to make a difference; they just need to care.

This book would be a great gift for a child who is learning about emotions, friendship, or how to be kind. It would work especially well in a classroom or nursery, where children can talk about the story afterwards and share their own ideas about helping others. It can lead to nice conversations about feelings and how to treat others.

This book is lovely and thoughtful and gently reminds us all of the importance to be kind and caring. Michelle Dawn Sullivan has written a story that is perfect for young readers and incorporates a message that people of all ages can understand. If you are looking for a calming, relaxing, kind-hearted story with a huge message, this book is prefect for all of them and more. Baxter the rabbit may be small, but his heart is big and that is what truly matters.
