Joop! Homme From Onbuy Review

It is very nearly June and before we know it Father’s Day will be here again. It can be difficult knowing what to buy for the special men in your life, but I always think a fragrance or aftershave is a good option as there are such a lot of different fragrances available to choose from and you can easily pick one that suits your budget – even more important this year with bills rising at an incredible rate.

I was therefore thrilled to receive a 200ml bottle of Joop! Homme to review, this iconic fragrance was launched back in 1989 and was incredibly popular with my male friends. I don’t usually order fragrance online as I am worried that it might break in transit, however it was packaged carefully and even the box was in perfect condition when I took it out of the packaging so I was very impressed.

It’s funny how a fragrance can bring back memories, when I opened the bottle and sprayed it on the back of my hand, I was instantly transported back to the early 90’s, when I was in my late teens and going to pubs and clubs with my friends. It is also the fragrance my husband wore when we first met, so has plenty of happy memories attached to it.

The Joop! Homme aftershave comes in an attractive purply/red cardboard box with the Joop! Homme writing standing out magnificently in green. The glass bottle is solid with a flat front and curved back and complete with a purple lid looks very stylish. The pink fragrance is very striking and the bottle will look very stylish in any bathroom or bedroom.

Launched by the design house of Joop! this fragrance has a woody and floral fragrance that is quite distinctive, so it was no surprise to discover that it was specially created to celebrate male sensuality and individuality. Joop! Homme does have quite a strong distinctive scent and one spray, or two at a push, really is ample for long lasting fragrance that will see you through from morning to night.

When fragrance experts talk about fragrance, they refer to top notes, heart notes and base notes, I’ve never been any good at identifying the different scents, so I had to do a quick Internet search to find out more about the ones in Joop! Homme. The top notes of this fragrance are – orange blossom, mandarin, bergamot and Amalfi lemon and the heart notes are – jasmine, heliotrope, lily of the valley, cinnamon and cardamom. Finally, we have the base notes of sandalwood, tonka bean, patchouli and vanilla. Once I knew what the ingredients are I found it was easier to detect them and for me the bergamot, cardamom and vanilla scents were the most noticeable. The initial notes are fresh but there is a musky base, making it great as both a day or evening fragrance.

I feel this 200ml bottle of aftershave is very reasonably priced and would suit most budgets. I’m sure any Dad, Grandad or father figure in your life will be thrilled to open a bottle of Joop! Homme this Father’s Day.
