As a mum of two young children, bath time is a daily occurrence and anything to make this go more smoothly and stress free is a necessity in my eyes. Having a young baby recently join my toddler in the bath leads to a whole new level of potential chaos. I was therefore keen to try the new 2 in 1 bathtub sent to me from Angelcare. Arriving in a large simple cardboard box, there were no issues with delivery or excess packaging as I was pleased to see that no plastic bag or wrap was used on the bath.

Designed to be used from birth to 12 months (maximum weight is 26lbs), this bath is cleverly designed to give two options. For the first 6 months, the bath can be used with the baby in the laid back position, and as motor strength and ability improves from around 6 months, baby can use it in a seated position. I loved the longevity of this as the bath seat we had previously was outgrown relatively quickly. The bathtub itself is therefore quite large and designed to be used as a standalone tub, with a maximum water level marked on the front to reduce excess spillage. A great idea to not need to use the main bath, in order to save water or for those who do not have a bathtub at home. I would also therefore bear it in mind for travelling if a bathtub wasn’t available where we were staying. We also used it in the main tub to keep my youngest supported and safe whilst bathing with her older brother. Due to its size this was possible however did obviously reduce the space in the main bathtub for my toddler. The anti-slip feet on the tub meant it can be safely used on the floor, in the main bath or shower so suitable for all.

The bath tub is designed ‘ergonomically’ to ensure your baby is held securely and doesn’t slip once wet. One of the best features I think is that the ‘soft touch’ material your baby lies on actually warms in temperature to the bathwater to provide extra comfort. I loved how this reduces the likelihood of your baby getting cold and allows him or her to get used to bath time without this additional discomfort. A further pro is that this material is mould resistant and easy to wash with a quick drying time- perfect for regular use. In the UK the item is only available in white and grey however this would always be my personal choice to match our bath suite.

Within the Angelcare bathing range are also alternative bath seats or supports so if these are preferred to the new 2 in 1 option they can be bought instead. As an addition I was also kindly sent the Angelcare baby bath and room thermometer. This RRP’s at £19.99 and allows you to easily measure the temperature of your baby’s bath with a quick shake (to turn on before dropping in the bath water), allowing piece of mind before baby gets in. A red light flashes on if the water is too hot and the word ‘cold’ appears on the screen if too cold. We have always used a bath thermometer for this very purpose however I loved how this Angelcare one is also designed to be used as a room thermometer, so parents do not need to invest in two separate ones. The ‘happy seal’ design is also very cute and immediately became an additional bath toy. The design allows the seal to float lying down in the water or stand upright when used as a room thermometer. Amazingly a battery (safely secured away from little hands) is included so no faffing around is required before use.

I would certainly recommend both products for new parents or parents to be and will add to my list of present options for future gifts.
