I was excited to review this with my friend as I have always wanted to see Burlesque dancers in a show.

We arrived at the Lighthouse Poole in plenty of time and found there was plenty of parking in the car park just opposite the theatre.

Our seats were in the stalls from where we had a great view of the stage as the seating is tiered. We were in the Lighthouse Concert Hall which is very spacious with lots of leg room. As the show is part of a Tour it was only at Poole for the one night.

The show started with introductions from international show girl Ivy Paige.

Despite a few technical problems with the sound the show kept going helped by audience participation. The laughter and fun filled the room during the evening, especially in the second act. The consistency of Ivy Paige enabled the audience to feel the show girl atmosphere.

The cast was very small and made up of just four girls who each individually throughout the evening came out and danced. The costumes were glitzy with glamour and sparkle allowing us to be brought into a sense of real cabaret. The lightning created a cabaret scene which enabled the stars of the show to shine.

There were two dancers who stood out for me for their performances, Isabella Bliss with her champagne glass and glittery confetti which spilled out of the glass as she performed, her routine sparkled with moves which wowed the audience at the end of the first act.  During the second half of the show Isabella wowed us again with a carousel horse as her prop which showed her strength and core stability.

The second dancer to stand out was Deborah with her ‘Hey Big Spender’ number, she certainly set the scene for the standard for the second half of the show.

Ivy Paige certainly encouraged audience participation in many different ways and sang different numbers which the audience could join in with. On a number of occasions throughout the show members of the audience were invited on to the stage to join in with the fun and laughter which helped keep the show alive.

Danny who played the role of the stage manager added to the ongoing laughter with his passion to perform on stage. Eventually Ivy Paige gave him his chance and the laughter could be heard for miles as he engulfed himself in a giant bouncing ball.

Many different moves allowed the audience to feel the fun factor of his act, this was a fantastic end to the show with a costume change inside of the bouncing ball to produce Elvis.

The cast then went on to join in with a rendition of YMCA with the audience standing on their feet.

As the synopsis says this is definitely for over 18s, due to the nature of the dancing. There were a variety of ages there tonight, from 18 and upwards.

I would rate this 3/5 due to a small cast and not quite to my expectations as I had watched the trailer on the lighthouse website which showed a larger cast with numbers being danced by groups not just individually.

Rating: 3/5
