Odylique Baby Gentle Wash And Shampoo Review

I have a 5 year old whose scalp is quite sensitive. In fact, just recently, I was horrified to discover a patch of cradle-cap well hidden under her lovely long locks. I was so perplexed as I thought it was something I’d dealt with in her early years and worried I was such a bad mother for letting it linger all these years unnoticed, while it secretly won a battle that I didn’t’ know I was part of. It made me realise how sensitive my girl is to the products that I’d been using on her hair and made me re-think my usual go-to hair care products.

When I had a chance to test out Odyliques Gentle Wash and Shampoo I was more than happy to try it, especially when I read that it is made of 100% natural ingredients, is Midwife approved and is vegan friendly. All encouraging as a mum who wants to avoid unnecessary chemicals and has a daughter with sensitive skin. The packaging is rather attractive and my little girl spotted it immediately; with it cute little bunny on the bottle which also has an easy pump action dispenser.

Upon first use, I thought the shampoo itself felt quite watery and runny and so put a few pumps worth into my hand. I needn’t have done this as it lathered up brilliantly and I’ve since found that just one pump is plenty and at least I know that this bottle will go a long way. What really struck me though was the smell. It was a heavenly lavender scent. My absolute favourite and something I particularly look for in baby and children’s products due to its calming and relaxing effects; above all at bedtime – something I think most parents can appreciate!

My daughter also loved it as it was her ‘special shampoo’ and since then, I get reminded that I have to use her ‘special shampoo’ at bath and shower time. The added bonus is that this isn’t just a shampoo. It can also be used as a body wash, so you get the added bonus of a great smelling all over body wash that’s also totally natural and sensitive to the skin.

I absolutely love this product and its gets extra points for the natural ingredients but most importantly being so gentle on my baby. It can be purchased for the price of £11.50 for a 200ml bottle and £21.00 for a 500ml bottle. On first impressions this does seem a little on the pricey side for a shampoo, BUT this really is a premium product that puts the environment and your family first. The background story of this family run business really does add value to product, which is based around the sheer research and the careful thought and planning that has gone into reducing its carbon footprint. As such, I think this would be an ideal present for a new mum and baby along with many other products in their range. I give this product a 5/5 for a baby-friendly and environmentally friendly shampoo that would make both parents and baby happy.
