Last night, we were transported to a Christmas winter wonderland…but with a very naughty twist…a very, very naughty twist!

We went to Southwark Playhouse (Elephant) to see the very intimate and cosy stage production of A Very Naughty Christmas, whose cast had come all the way from Australia to entertain! And boy, did they know how to entertain! From singing, to tap dancing, to burlesque to stripping, to naughty Christmas related innuendos to audience participation. There was something for everyone who may be looking for a naughty alternative to the usual Christmas shows and pantos. We left having been thoroughly entertained with a big smile on our face and painful jaws from laughing so much, but if you asked the cast, they would tell you that it was from a more naughtier set of circumstances!

The stage was very simple, in that there wasn’t a stage, just the floor of the theatre, which led to lots of audience interaction with the cast dancing, singing and amongst the audience sat on tables at the front. We were sat on the balcony and had a great view of proceedings, whilst avoiding being chosen to partake in various parts of the show although others were not so safe! There was also a large box like structure with stairs going up either side, on top sat the two piece band, who provided the music throughout and were excellent. And this is where a lot of the singing and dancing took place, so we on the balcony could see very well.

As I said, the venue is very small and intimate, which means you are in close proximity with the cast on stage and there is a lot of eye contact and interaction. I particularly liked sitting up on the balcony as we had a great view of the hilarious (and at times, very rude) cast interactions with the audience, which in itself, had us in stitches.

This show is not for the faint of heart…it is packed full of nudity, innuendo, naughtiness, rudeness and toys…and so many bare bottoms and sexy outfits and… toys. So if you are easily shocked, or offended, don’t go to see this show, or do go and be educated in all things naughty at Christmas!

The show, created by Alex Woodward and Daniel Venz has a small, but amazing cast, who are all amazingly talented, singing, dancing, wickedly funny and wickedly naughty! Bad Santa, Stephen, was like the compere of the show and kept the naughtiness going throughout.

I think my favourite part was the dance with the presents, it was hilarious!

For anyone who enjoys a little bit of silliness and naughtiness at Christmas, then this is definitely the show for you. I highly recommend a visit and I give the show 5/5!

Tickets are available from southwarkplayhouse.co.uk and start from £16, with a table at the front, with four tickets being £180.
