Set amidst 45 acres of delightful Berkshire countryside the Sportfish Game Fishing Centre is a centre of excellence with three lakes to explore, offering an unrivalled package of fly-fishing tuition and expertise.

The Sportfish Game Fishing Centre offers a range of one-to-one tuition, group casting lessons and day courses suitable for all anglers, from absolute beginners to those looking to hone and develop their skills. In addition, they also offer a diverse range of both in-house and residential courses to allow you to practice in the field.

• Haywards Farm Lake; one of the finest small, stillwater trout fisheries in the country. The 11-acre Haywards Farm Lake is spring-fed with crystal clear water, boasting abundant wildlife and insect life. With a mix of fish species from full-finned rainbow trout to superb brown and blue trout, this lake offers excellent access and unimpeded casting to enjoy year-round.

• Hobby Lake; is named after the bird species which used to visit the area in numbers, and like its larger sister, this lake is also spring-fed with crystal clear water clarity. This particular lake aims to offer something a little different and as such, is only available for private hire. With a capacity of up to 10 fisher men and women, it is a perfect venue to share with friends and family, or one to stage small corporate events with colleagues or clients.

Hobby Lake is stocked with fin-perfect rainbow, blue, brown, golden, sparctic and tiger trout. Exclusive use of Hobby Lake includes access to the Hobby Lodge, BBQ facilities and 2 rowing boats with a pontoon

• Finally, the Kingfisher Pond which has been a project at the Sportfish Game Fishing Centre to help shape the future of junior fishing.

Encouraging youngsters to engage with nature conservation and learn about fishing and the wider aquatic environment is challenging and the sparsity of juniors entering the sport has been a cause for concern for some time. To help address this problem, the Sportfish Game Fishing Centre collaborated with the Englefield Estate Trust Corporation Ltd, Reading Fishing Club and the Environment Agency to create a delightful pond facility adjacent to Haywards Farm Lake.

The Kingfisher Pond is planted with a diverse range of native aquatic and marginal plants to increase habitat. It has also been stocked with young trout and developed as part of the Sportfish tuition scheme to benefit both youngsters learning to fish and those simply looking to explore the aquatic environment as part of their school curriculum.
