I have three little people that love to do craft and are always excited by new ways to make things and have fun. This had their names all over it and they couldn’t wait to get started, as we have never tried anything like this before.

The Aquabeads carry case is a craft set with a difference, it is a fairly mess free and actually quite a calming activity and so captivating for all ages. It is suitable for ages 3 up and honestly my three love it ( they are 9, 7 and 5 for reference). The carry case comes with a cardboard sleeve (nicely to use recyclable packaging) giving you an idea of what is included inside and also the type of things you will be able to make. The carry case is a super useful little box, inside are lots of packets of beads (they are all in little plastic bags so unfortunately not recyclable), there are 900 beads in total in 24 different colours so plenty for lots of different designs and lots of different things to make. There are also 2 sheets with templates and an instruction manual so you know what to do and how to make your designs. Included in the box is also a handy tool to help you pick up and place the beads and the water spray bottle to fix the beads into place. There are also a range of stands and the creation display board so that your little ones have a place to display all of their amazing works of art.

The box itself is split up with lots of slots to pour the beads in and keep them organised and separated, the lid is removable and it is set up so you work on the lid and then clip it to the box and store everything inside, it really is a great design and so space saving. There is a handy carry handle too so you can take your kit with you if you were to go on holiday, visit family or just go from upstairs to downstairs with it.

Now onto the making because it is a wonderful thing to do, it has kept my children occupied for days at a time and is such a calming and quiet activity, they have loved the time and creativity that it has given them. However as a parent I have loved the quiet time, the creativity and the almost mess free crafting. They set the beads out on the tray and spray them as per the instructions and then the fun as a parent actually begins… the flipping the design over can be hard work and often goes wrong, so I have found the best thing to do is to flip the lid and design at the same time and not just the design, that way you can guarantee the design stays in one piece as much as possible. If and when the design is off of the board you then have to move it, again good luck, it’s not easy and often goes wrong, be warned if it does go wrong you will need to be on hand to remake a sticky almost impossible design for an upset child! Depending on how much water is added depends on how sticky and how long the creation takes to dry, we have found that overnight is the best for drying otherwise they pick them up too soon and it breaks easily.

We have really loved doing these and the finished creations make great gifts for friends and family, there are so many different sets of Aquabeads and the imagination and creativity it promotes is fantastic too, they really do capture the attention of my children and they have spent so much time playing and crafting they haven’t wanted screen time. They are a little tricky to get the hang of but I think once you have the knack they are really fun and really are great for all ages. The set would make a great present for a birthday or any event and any little one would be happy to receive them, I’m pretty sure we will be growing our set very soon.
