My husband practices and teaches martial arts, and often after some more intense sessions, massaging the muscles is good practice so I jumped at the chance to review this home professional massager! It went straight to work within ten minutes of opening the box!

This professional style massage gun seems to be the best on the market at the moment for hand held, home massagers. The brand HoMedics create products designed to help you destress, relax and create the perfect environment for your health, with products ranging from aromatherapy and air purification, to home massage tools. Along with the Pro Physio massage gun, they have other items which target more specific areas, including a fantastic range of heated massage chairs.

Inside the box was a lovely and good quality carry case with a zip. The massager, charger and heads are inside this case in a well padded, moulded piece of foam. This case makes it really portable which is handy for those heading out to sporting events or who like to take their equipment with them on trips.

It comes with 6 different heads each to target a different muscle group. Choose from heated, cooled, cellulite, barrel, ball and arrow. There is also a handy card included with information about each head and some ideas for routines on specific muscle groups.

The gun itself is black, the plastic is lovely and soft. It has three speed settings which vary in intensity. It is actually a lot more powerful than I thought it would be! A little too powerful for me on the highest setting but my hubby loves it! He says he can feel it right into the muscle. It makes my cheeks wobble! The cellulite head is hilarious, I love it but it feels so weird at first. All in the name of health and well toned legs eh! My husbands favourite head is the cooling head, with it being made of soft, gel filled fabric it is nice to get in around joints where the harder heads might be a little uncomfortable.

I particularly liked the heated head too. Simply pop it into the gun part of the massager and switch it on. It takes about 2 minutes to reach it’s highest heat and when it does it feels lovely. If using the heated head I think the lowest speed setting is nicer otherwise it can be a bit much. I think if having a really good, deep massage though then a higher setting will be preferred, but it was a bit much for me.

It is super quiet, hardly any noise from it at all so you don’t have to worry about that.  I love that it is cordless, no worrying about pulling the wire too far or getting caught up. This massager has a lot of power and lasts a long time. We have used it now for over an hour and as of yet it hasn’t ran out. I did test the charger though to make sure it was working. It is very easy to plug into the wall and doesn’t get hot at all whilst on charge.

The only thing I would say about this is that it is a little heavier than some other massage tools, I understand why it needs to be but for some it might be a little difficult to hold in the correct position. Saying this though I assume those who might find it harder to lift and hold would have supervision or someone else holding the massager anyway.
This massager is so easy to use. I couldn’t believe there wasn’t more to it, just pop on the head you want (make sure it is inserted correctly of it will pop off as we found out. Frightened the life out of the dog!) and then turn it on! That’s it, so simple. I do recommend giving the ends a wipe down too after use but with it being plastic it is also easy to keep clean.

Price point wise it is on the higher side, being almost £300 it is more of an investment but in this case you need to weigh up whether it’s worth getting this which I am confident will last a long time. It is good quality, durable and has everything you need. A cheaper one might not last as long and might have to be replaced more often, meaning that in the long run the higher price tag is a good investment. It works out a lot cheaper than going out for physiotherapy with massage equipment in the long run too.

We have been very pleased with it and it will certainly be well used at our house!

Rating: I give this massager 4.5/5 stars.

RRP and Buy link: You can find the massage gun here for a retail price of £299.99 currently on sale for £249.99 at the time of putting the review online

The half star being lost on the higher price point and the weight of the item, however as I said it really is a fantastic bit of kit! Worth having if you practice regular sports. I think it would make the perfect gift for someone into sports and health!
