If you have a child, you may just be familiar with a particular well known child’s song, that is very fitting for this review of the Kit and Kin Bear Cardigan. How does it go again?…

‘If you go down to the woods today….” (editor’s note – edited to remove some of the song lyrics)

Kit and Kin are providing us parents with the opportunity to have our very own little bears when we ‘disguise’ them in the gorgeous Kit and Kin Bear Cardigan.

I love the neutral, natural brown colouring of the cardigan, making it gender neutral and totally unisex, so suitable for all of our little darlings aged 0-24 months.

My little girl has a very sensitive skin and particular fabrics can certainly (and have been known to) irritate her delicate skin, but I was really pleased to discover that this cardigan is made of 100% sustainable organic cotton, so I’m rest assured that she will be lovely and warm but more importantly, comfortable, whilst wearing it.

The ‘fit’ is loose enough so that it can be worn over the top of other clothes like a baby grow, vest or top, but yet thin enough that it can still be worn underneath outdoor coats and jackets. Perfect to wear around the house if it’s a bit nippy or outside (when layers worn) on a mild day.

The ‘bear’ design is aesthetically very pleasing and the main reason why my little girl enjoys wearing this cardigan more than her other jumpers. It incorporates a hood with 2 very cute little ‘bear’ ears. It is made with a relatively large knit size and has 2 rows of double breasted, large wooden buttons to keep our little ‘cubs’ toasty warm on these cooler Autumnal days. Even with the large buttons, my 15 month old doesn’t yet have the fine motor control and dexterity in her hands to do up or undo these buttons.

The cardigan is available to purchase for £34.99 in the following sizes;

0-6 months

6-12 months

12-18 months

18-24 months

Sometimes it can be a challenge to get our strong willed little ones to keep their hoods on, but I think that because my little girl felt like she could play and ‘be a bear,’ there were no tears or tantrums when I asked her to keep the hood up.

As per life, and the daily events of a toddler, even when your little cub does have a huge melt down, you’ll still have an adorable little ‘grizzly bear’ when they wear this Kit and Kin cardigan!

The only thing that I can think of which could potentially help to compliment this cardigan further, is a cute little pair of matching mittens to help keep little ‘paws’ warm.

On a practical note, I’m very pleased to confirm that this cardigan is machine washable at 30°C and can also be ironed!!! Little bears are very likely to get covered in dirt, food and goodness knows what else, so an easy washing routine is an essential element for all clothes purchases in our household!

When browsing the Kit and Kin website, I also fell in love with the grey Bunny Cardigan which is the alternative design to the Bear, and would certainly be a sweet little addition to any baby’s wardrobe.

When asking the question, did my little girl enjoy wearing this bear cardigan, undoubtedly, the simple answer to that is…’does a bear poop in the woods?’ She absolutely adores her cardigan and stomps around looking very proud of herself with the hood firmly up when wearing it!! Every now and again when she’s playing, we even hear a little growl escaping from our little cub!

With Christmas coming and the cooler wintery weather fast approaching, what a lovely and practical present this would make for any baby or toddler. With the choice of both the bear and bunny cardigans available in a selection of sizes, you’re sure to find the perfect gift for a lucky little someone! And even better still, for ease and convenience when purchasing the cardigan on the Kit and Kin website, they offer a gift box option for an additional fee. Therefore, you can get the cardigan delivered directly to the lucky recipient already neatly gift packaged (if you won’t get to hand deliver the present yourself) or, delivered to yourself already prepared to gift over, handy if you’re short on time for organising the wrapping,  and perfect during all the Christmas chaos!
