Leggings are the “any age and any size ” wardrobe essential. From my perspective they are a “Mum staple” for comfort, ease and to help to hide those bumps and lumps. I’m green with envy over anyone who can wear them with a cropped top as those days are long gone for me.

I have three children and have a very noticeable post pregnancy stomach which is completely out of place with the rest of my body. I tend to fall back on leggings or flattering dresses, as jeans just accentuate the bits that I’d rather hide and it’s always a risk whether the top button will fasten these days.
Jeggings are not something that I have really considered since having children as I assumed they were for thin people, but wondered if they could be the compromise between the comfort and fit of leggings and the more cool fashionable look of jeans.

I was really unsure about sizing, as I am usually a size 10-12 in stretchy leggings but a larger size in jeans. I actually went onto the Love leggings website and had an online chat with a lovely lady who replied almost instantly. I asked some advice as I feel so “in-between” sizes. I was told that their jeggings fit the same as their leggings, but to go up a size if I am in-between. Naturally I ignored that advise and went for the lower size which I think may have been a mistake to be honest as they are slightly snug and need a bit of a pull to get them on. Serves me right for not listening to the expert so I would advise that you speak with them if you are unsure, and that you actually take their advice.

My bum looks lifted and my legs look pretty good too. These may not be jeans but they certainly look the part and are a lot more comfortable. The high waist means no muffin top too. My stomach sadly didn’t look any slimmer but I can’t say that I expected jeggings to be able to perform that miracle. It certainly didn’t look any worse than usual!

What I love most is that, whenever I decide to brave a jeans shop I usually try on multiple pairs, whereas these jeggings were simply sent for me to review and I would 100% wear them with confidence. Satisfaction after trying on just one pair is very unlike me. Jeggings are definitely the way to go, and have much more stretch for active summer days.

The material is really soft and does not restrict your movement, and it feels so nice to be wearing jeans without the trauma of the zip and button, and the stiffness of the denim. This is a great colour and design for summer; the pale sky blue shade is perfect for the season and the leg being cropped below the knee with a slight 2cm split on the outer hem has a holiday feel.

For me, the leg was slightly too short by an inch or so as I would like a cropped trouser to be sitting halfway between the knee and ankle or perhaps a fraction longer. I am almost 5 foot 7 in height so I am slightly taller than average, plus they were a little tight so that may have contributed to them looking shorter than on the website model.
Personal preference is a factor too, and these are cropped rather than the three quarter length trousers that I am used to so I will no doubt adjust to the different style.

I loved some of the little extra finishes that I didn’t expect with jeggings; the brown leather patch on the back waist band, the belt loops on the waist and the metal studs associated with jeans. There’s a fake “fly” and fake set of side pockets with a front coins pocket that actually opens. This is quite shallow so I doubt that I would use it. The two back pockets are useable as with normal jeans.

These jeggings are priced at £26, which is similar to high street jeans and more than worth it for the comfort, quality and those extra details. I must add that they washed really well and there was no noticeable change in colour or size thankfully.

The company has a great website with so many options for sports, maternity and daily leggings as well as a wide range of jeggings. They include plus sizes, tall, petite and childrens’ leggings, as well as “treggings” which are apparently designed to wear at work. I tend to rely on black leggings, and this review has made me feel pretty boring so I think that I need to be a little more adventurous as the quality and options are fantastic.

These jeggings really do look like jeans, but are much more comfortable and figure flattering for a great Summer look.
