Tweezerfile Review

Reviewed by Helen Wyatt

I’m not what you’d call a beauty aficionado. Don’t get me wrong; I occasionally do like to wear a bit of makeup and brush my hair so I don’t look like I’ve been dragged through a hedge backwards, but you’ll be hard pushed to get much more “beauty” related action out of me! That said, one thing I do regularly is pluck my eyebrows. I’m not a fan of waxing but do like to keep the old unibrow in check! For this I need my trusty old tweezers. Sometimes, however, I find my tweezers just won’t grab those pesky fine hairs – you know the ones, they’re really obvious but somehow really impossible to grab. No matter what you try, what angle you go for, you just can’t seem to grab the hair and then you end up giving up until you can get a new pair of tweezers!

That’s where the Tweezerfile comes in. This innocuous little tool doesn’t look like much but it’s truly the item every person with a pair of tweezers shouldn’t be without. The packaging is a plain grey, with bold lettering up the side, leaving you in no doubt as to what you’re opening. You’ll see that you’re getting “the original tweezer sharpener” which has diamond plated stainless steel blades. Turning the packaging over, you have nice and simple instructions, including a pictorial version so you really can’t go wrong.

The tool itself has a plastic grip around 2.5 inches long, with a flat file on either side. The handle is ridged for easy gripping, then you simply hold it in one hand, put your tweezers on either side and gently slide up and down. I tested this out on my favourite pair of tweezers which probably cost me more than they should have done, putting an even amount of pressure to the top and bottom blade. A few rubs on the tweezers up and down, and I tried them out on my brows – what a difference! I could easily grab the fine hairs again, just like I could when the tweezers were brand new. I think it will take a bit of experimentation to know how many times you need to file your tweezers, depending on how blunt they are (and I honestly never thought about tweezers going blunt – I bet you didn’t either!), but this little tool will make your tweezers just like new. No more having to buy more tweezers when the old ones just don’t cut it anymore! As the packaging says, “don’t throw it, file it”.

This would make a great stocking filler for anyone you know that uses tweezers – a great money saving item that is truly functional. It’s small so it will fit in any makeup bag, so is easy to find when its needed, and is designed to last for life. Available from www.tweezerfile.com, the Tweezerfile comes in coral or petrol blue.
