PortaScent Pocket Atomiser Review

Reviewed by Laura Ashworth
Upon opening the package I thought for a second I had been sent a lipstick due to its size and colour (black) but was very pleasantly surprised when I realised it was a pocket atomiser, something which I have always considered purchasing but never brave enough to make the investment.
The atomiser holds 5ml of liquid and is suitable to take on a plane in your hand luggage, as indicated further by picture on the outer packaging. It holds 120 puffs in each little bottle, I say puffs because unlike a perfume bottle where you get a spray or a spritz, the atomiser lets out a short, delicate low sounding puff of scent but it still allows a standard amount of scent to fill the air around you. It fills extremely quickly, I must have pumped my perfume bottle no more than 15 – 20 times to fill the bottle to its maximum line. The hard plastic case locks on and off from the bottle so you can see the maximum fill line which is hidden under the case, however a slither of the case is cut out so you can see a small portion of the liquid in the bottle. It does not say on the packaging if it is leakproof or not but I have to say that I have not had any issues with leaking at all and I did not fill it up in any fancy way, I just put it over my perfume bottle filled it up and pulled it off. The lid is very secure and will not just fall off, I use a rucksack which I am not very delicate with and it has survived with no cracks or leaks. Also not mentioned on the packaging is if it is possible to refill it with another scent but after the great experience I have had with this one I will happily purchase a new one for another perfume.

The outer packaging itself is very simply designed with see through walls, a colourful banner around the middle of said walls highlighting what the product is and a very beautiful outline of a Mandala around the base, the back wall is a solid colour (matching the banner) and holds a little bit of further information in English, French and Spanish. The atomiser comes in a made to fit mould which is very secure and took a good few pulls and pushes on the packaging to get out. One of my favourite things about the packaging is it is not overly stimulating, nor is it “wordy” which means you easily find key points about the product. There is even a little diagram to show you “how to” if you are feeling a bit uncertain, which I was, even though I knew the general idea.

The only slight issue I have is whilst it isn’t too “wordy” on the outer packaging which suits me very well, I feel it could have held a bit more information, at the time of writing this the website on the bottom of the packaging is a blank page which seems to have passed a launch date indicated by 0 Days 0 Hours etc. so I was unable to find more information to some of my questions.
I am glad I have had the chance to try this product for myself, as no one I know has one to compare to, I didn’t think it would be worth the investment. However my perfumes never get used as I never gravitate towards my perfumes on a morning, I usually keep a can of aerosol in my bag which I spray myself on the way out of the door or in the car and perfume bottles have broken in my bag previously. As a result, my perfumes 9 out of 10 times go stale and get thrown out so this is an excellent way to use them with confidence. I give this convenient little product 5 out of 5 and will purchase it in the future.
