Glencroft Countrywear British Wool Ladies Aran Poncho Review

As the crisp cold days of autumn have now truly arrived, I have been turning to my winter wardrobe for warmth and for comfort. A staple item that has been featuring in my winter wardrobe for the past few years is a poncho, this is due to it being such an easy item to wear and to add an extra layer of warmth for me (for someone who really notices the cold this is essential!). So, when I received the beautiful British Wool Ladies Aran Poncho by Glencroft Countrywear to review I was absolutely delighted to be able to add another poncho to my current collection.
The poncho comes in a choice of two colours which are charcoal and oatmeal – the one I received to review was in oatmeal, which is a lovely colour but I would say it is more grey/taupe in tone than sand-like and it is made from 100% British wool which has been knitted into a beautiful yet traditional Aran pattern with a button neck collar. The poncho even comes with a British wool certification number label which proves its authenticity.
So, as the October half term had arrived and one of my children’s homework tasks was to go on an autumnal nature walk, I decided this would be the perfect opportunity to road test the poncho to see just how comfy warm and cosy it would keep me during our walk! I decided to team the poncho up with a pair of skinny black jeans and a black long-sleeved top and it looked great. I have to say that it certainly lived up to expectations and kept me nice and warm whilst looking stylish and wasn’t bulky either. However, I did find the wool slightly scratchy to touch but hopefully after it has been washed it should soften. What I liked the most about this poncho is the cowl neck collar as this kept my neck area nice and warm without the need to add a scarf as well! I know that I will get a lot of wear out of this beautiful poncho over the next few months.
This size is described as a one-size fits all poncho and for reference I am an averaged size 12 and this was just the perfect size for me, but I would note that it was easy to see that it would easily fit multiple sizes.
One thing to consider is that it is hand wash with care only, but most of my delicate woollen clothes are so this isn’t a big thing for me but may be something to consider
This poncho would make a perfect Christmas gift for anyone that is wanting to keep warm and stylish this winter, either for a personal treat to oneself or to treat a friend or family member. I already know that my aunt will be adding one to her Christmas wish list this year!
