Not on the High Street Stackers Purple Mini Jewellery Box Review

Reviewed by Jenny Seymour

This jewellery box arrived very well wrapped up in a large box and with polystyrene around it to ensure the case arrives safely and undamaged.

Inside, the box was just cardboard and would need wrapping up if it were a gift, but the box itself comes nicely wrapped. You can see from the box, which elements of the staking boxes have been purchased.

Where else to look for quality Mothers’ Day gifts, but Not on the High Street. Their sellers always seem to have a certain quality which you come to expect, and I was excited to receive this jewellery box from Stackers to review. What a great Mothers’ Day gift! Often overlooked with flowers or chocolates, but as a mum myself, I would love to have this jewellery box sat on my dressing table.

What is fabulous, is that this is not just a jewellery box, but a jewellery system! You can design your own solution for your jewellery or accessories. Stackers’ strapline is that they like to think outside the box! (i.e. outside the norms for a jewellery box) and I think they have managed to achieve this with style.

My jewellery box is purple, but the stackers jewellery box systems come in a wide range of colours. Some are neutral; mink, taupe or dusky blue or you can go for the bolder options; chocolate and brights – blue and pink or hot pink. There are even some “junior stackers” ranges, so it can be an ideal birthday gift for a young girl wanting to tidy up her dressing table or desk. Some of the bolder colours, browns and greens, may also be suitable for men.

I don’t know about you, but lucky girl that I am, my jewellery box is overflowing. What I would love is a jewellery box that can grow with my needs, as I get older, but which won’t take up space or risk toppling over, spilling the precious jewellery inside. What is great about the Stackers box system is that there is a lipped bottom underneath each section of the box, so that they all fit neatly together when on top of each other.

You can choose from a number of options for the trays and you can finish it off usually with a lidded tray which fastens with a metal clip, or you can buy a separate wooden lipped lid that fits nicely on top of the upper tray or just leave it open – you can choose! So, you may have the top tray open with your rings on show or to have the jewellery box more of a traditional style, which may also protect the jewellery inside from dust etc. There are also 3 sizes of tray: classic, super-sized and mini.  I chose a set of two classic trays, which comprises a lidded stacker, with an insert in the middle for rings, earrings etc and a deep section stacker which is more flexible in use.

I can’t wait to add to my stacker jewellery trays – you can get some great accessories. My favourites are the charm bar tray (for all loose charms, but I also think rings may well fit around the bar) and phone stand, which can fit handily on a bedside table and also includes space at the bottom for your watch and rings. There is a bracelet/watch pad insert and even a travel insert with buttons to keep your jewellery in place whilst on the move.

Inside, the stacker trays are a velvety smooth material, which gives a nice soft feel against your jewellery or accessories. The lid has got a ribbon hinge but stays up very effectively when the lid is open and the metal tags on the lids and inside are stylish. The trays themselves are sturdy and robust and seem to be of high quality – as you would expect from a seller on Not on the High Street. It says that they are made of “PU vegan leather” – is that not plastic???

You may also be surprised to hear that each of these trays and accessories are actually reasonably priced too – at £15.95 for each open tray, £19.95 for a lidded tray and accessory prices starting at just £6.95. Something even the kids could afford to buy as a gift out of their pocket money!

If you purchase your stacker from Not on the High Street, there is also the option to emboss up to 3 initials on the outside of the box (extra cost of £15). What more can a mummy ask for than a personalised accessory box (oh, and maybe some extra jewellery pieces to go inside!).

A great idea for storing jewellery and accessories which can be personalised to your individual preferences and space available. So practical and yet a stylish addition to any dressing table.
