Gaia Mini Essentials Travel Set Review

With Mother’s Day just around the corner it’s time to start dropping hints about potential gifts I’d be happy to receive from my children, so as to avoid the standard flowers and chocolate (not that I have any objection to either!). When I was asked to review the Gaia Mini Essentials Travel Set, for the WGTD Mother’s Day gift guide, I jumped at the chance, it’s always lovely to have new toiletries to try and I don’t often treat myself.
I hadn’t heard of Gaia Skincare, so I did some research on their website to find out more. Gaia sell natural skincare products which are handmade in Britain, using the finest ingredients, plant actives and essential oils. All Gaia products are free from synthetics and chemicals and are also vegan. The name Gaia is inspired by the ancient Greek Goddess known as Mother Nature. They also have a flagship Spa in Devon, and supply products several other spas around the country.
After ordering, the Mini Essentials Travel Set arrived quickly within a couple of days, packaged in a sturdy cardboard box and well protected by shredded paper so arrived intact.
The Mini Essentials Travel Set consists of four 100ml bottles of the following Gaia products:
• Awakening Body Wash
• Awakening Body Lotion
• Awakening Shampoo
• Awakening Conditioner
These were all in lovely clear bottles with wooden flip-top lids, presented in a clear zip up toiletry bag, inside was a card with details of all the products. Each bottle also had a label, decorated with an attractive green floral design, detailing the ingredients, product description and how to use. The bottles feel very substantial and will be ideal to use again once empty. In fact, Gaia encourages customers to use their refill service, offering a 20% discount for doing so. I was impressed that there was no excess plastic used in any of the packaging.
The products are all from Gaia’s Awakening Blend made using a blend of grapefruit and peppermint which will “stimulate and revitalise the senses”. All the products smell divine with a lovely fresh citrusy fragrance. The body wash (which can also be used as a bath soak) really made me feel refreshed after using it. This would be ideal for holidays to energise after a long day by the pool. I followed this with the body lotion which was very light and easily absorbed. It left a lovely fresh smell on my skin which lasted for a long time after using.
I haven’t tried the shampoo and conditioner yet; however these have been acquired by my 14 year old who says that they made their hair feel clean and soft. These also have the same smell as the other two products.
Overall this is a lovely gift set, ideal for taking on holiday with the 100ml bottles being small enough to pop into hand luggage if needed. The price is fairly expensive, but these are quality products which will last for a long time and really make you feel special.
I did notice that the Mini Essentials Travel Set was on the Gaia website under the “gifts for him” section, but I think this would make a lovely Mother’s Day gift and is actually perfect for men and women.
