I have smoked for 15 years and have tried to quit, albeit half-heartedly, on numerous occasions without success. When I heard about this book I thought why not – I’ve tried everything else let’s give this a go!

The book claims to transform the process of quitting smoking into an adventurous quest.

After several failed attempts at quitting I know what I’m about to embark on and an adventure is not what I would describe is ahead of me for the next 2-3 weeks!

Now I like to consider myself an intelligent woman. I know smoking is bad for my health, it dulls my complexion and smells terrible and truth be told out of the 15 or so cigarettes I smoke a day I probably enjoy 2! Like most smokers, this is the time to ask yourself the question – so why do it?

 It’s a disgusting, dirty, filthy expensive habit and it’s not even social like it was in years gone by.

Now I’m not a fan of “self-help” books, I’m very sceptical. If you want to do something enough you will do it. If you really want to quit smoking you will do it.

The author make some excellent points, one of my favourites being “cigarettes don’t make anything better.” Never a truer word spoken!

I could definitely relate to the authors own feelings and thoughts as he took us through the day by day process, only another addict could understand the crazy feelings running through your mind as you enter that first few days of nicotine withdrawal.

As a whole the book does exactly as described, it offers sound advice and encouragement. It’s like someone holding your hand through the process letting you know you are not alone and it does get easier.

It provides a good many laughs just when you need them.

Will this book be the one thing that makes you quit smoking once and for all? In all honestly probably not, but it will bring a smile to your face as you embark on what could be one of the most difficult journeys of your life.
