Britain’s Got Magic at the Grove Theatre, Dunstable Review

It was my pleasure to return to the Grove Theatre last night (13 February 2018) with my husband to see Britain’s Got Magic, starring Britain’s Got Talent 2016 Finalist Christian Lee. Performing alongside Christian tonight were Oliver Tabor and Max Somerset.

We found the theatre easily and parking at the rear had ample spaces, we had to pay a small fee as this wasn’t free until after 6pm.

We headed straight to the theatre but noted a Wetherspoons pub a very short distance away.

We collected our tickets with ease and were given directions where to go. We stopped off at the bar for drinks, although we did not require any we noticed that they did sell snacks and sweets. The toilets at the Grove were clean, tidy and there were plenty of them. Staff at the Grove were as always pleasant and informative.

It wasn’t a full house for tonight’s performance, which was a shame, it was an unusual start time for a show and maybe the start time of 6pm made it difficult for people get to there.

We were treated to an array of magic tricks and a show that was very family orientated with great amount of audience participation, the children in the audience particularly loving it.

If you had watched Christian on Britain’s Got Talent then you would have seen a couple of the acts before, so my advice would be not to look him up before you go so as not to spoil the evening. Great supporting magical acts coming from both Oliver and Max, a fun filled full evening, magic and comedy combined.

This show is really aimed at a family audience and tonight I was missing a couple of children, if you’re looking for something fun and entertaining to do with the children this half term and they love magic and laughs, then this would be a great show for you, I think I have learnt that I prefer the more serious magic acts that you can see rather than one based around comedy.
