Fugglars are not for everyone; they are not the prettiest, cutest, or most friendly-looking toy; however, in our house, we love them. They have a certain je ne sais quoi about them.
Fugglars have a large range of different characters and sizes from keychains to 44cm. Today I am reviewing the Batman Fugglar! Yes, Fugglars have taken over ‘DC’ comic characters. The Batman Fugglar is one of four in their ‘DC’ comic range; they have Batman, Superman, The Joker, and Harlequin. Each one has its own unique look. Zuru, the makers of Fugglars, call them ‘funny, ugly monsters’. I think that they are brilliantly different.
Batman Fugglar is fantastic; he is very well made, great quality materials have been used, and he is certainly not going to fall apart when your little one throws him around in order to save the planet. He is approximately 22 cm/9 inches tall, so a great size for children to play with, travel with, and store. As ugliness goes, he is not that bad; he has his two human-like front teeth on show and bulging slit eyes, and he is not going to really scare anyone. My daughter called him ‘adorable.’ I am not quite sure that is what I would call him, but each to their own.
There is no question which character the Batman X DC Fugglar is; he is in the iconic Batman grey with the Batman logo on his chest, he has black wings, a black bat mask complete with ears, and he even has colour-correct Batman pants. Fugglars are recommended for children aged 4+, as I said earlier, Batman is really well made, and he is not going to fall apart easily. I can only assume that it is the case that, should the front teeth become detached, they would become a choking risk. It is always best to follow the guidelines.
I do like the company’s minimal packaging, just a cardboard box, which makes it easy to see which Fugglar you are purchasing and very easy to recycle.
Fugglars have become a collectable toy; 1/24 Fugglars have a button bottom, making some more collectable than others. Zuru has made several crossover characters over the years. For including SpongeBob Square Pants and the Teenage Ninja Turtles. By bringing out the ‘DC’ collection of Fugglars, it has extended their desirability into the world of ‘DC comics’, which is a very large market. The Batman x DC Fugglar is currently retailing at £10.00 from all good toy shops, including The Entertainer and Amazon.( Amazon has it one sale at £9.99) Due to the price, it would make a really nice children’s birthday gift or simple treat, being only £10.00, it makes it a pocket money toy as well.
With Christmas just around the corner, it could also make a fun stocking filler.
Fugglars are not just for children; with the ‘DC’ crossover, the Batman X DC Fugglar and his friends would also make a humorous gift for any ‘DC’ comic lover. Zuru have probably made the four favourite ‘DC’ characters, so I am sure that you would be able to find their favourite.
I really like this collection of Fugglars. We love the Batman Fugglar; he looks like Batman, just with a little twist. He is funny to look at; he is really well made and crosses over the ages. The price is really good, at just £10.00, it is a very accessible toy.
