Arriving at Wookey Hole (Saturday 1st of March 2014) we went to the ticket office and were served by a friendly lady. She welcomed us to Wookey Hole Caves and directed us on how to get to the Caves for the tour.

We walked up to the entrance of the caves which took just under 10 minutes for the tour.

The tour was very interesting and our tour guide showed us everything from the bats that live in the caves through to the caves history. Something I liked about the caves was how the route through the caves looped through to the gardens and museums and also the soft play area for the children.

While the venue can cater for disabled people the caves are restricted due to steps but the museum and play areas can cater for people in wheelchairs by going in via the shop entrance.

They do have a virtual tour next to the restaurant which is an area to sit and watch a video of the caves but on the day of our visit the screen was not switched on.

Wookey Hole has so much for the family including the Valley of the Dinosaurs where there are full size Dinosaurs. There is also the new Wookey Hole Circus Show which has various skills including: juggling skating unicycle wire walking rope and silks bungee skills trapeze. While the show was amazing the music was too loud and almost deafening and my children wanted to leave.

Next to the Circus were stairs which when down to some fun mirrors and also the toilets but on the day we were there, there were tables in front of the mirrors with no chairs it look like they had nowhere to store them and they were just put there. There was also a museum with model towns which had a mini model circus but in this area was also lots of tables in the way and no chairs.

After the Circus Show we went to have some lunch not knowing that they had a restaurant we took a packed lunch but looking at the prices if I had known I would have had food at the venue. The only thing that was a little too high in price was the tea and coffee as it cost us just over £4.50 for one tea and one coffee.

The children’s play area was really good as if you purchase food you can sit and eat while the kids get to play.

When we finished in the restaurant we went through to the Victorian Penny Arcade which was good fun and then we went to The Magical Mirror Maze which was really good fun getting confused which way to get out.

We then went through to the shop and as you entered they had a section where you could have your photo taken but this was not working.

The shop itself had some areas which needed attention like the bracelets with personalised names on and half the display was empty and my children would of liked something with their names on this was the case with a few displays, Some items were overpriced and if they had been at a better price I would of spent more.

In summery the venue was really good and lots to do for the family, friendly staff, really good cave tour, fun play area for the children.

If I was to return I would book online as a family of four, 2 children and 2 adults would cost £60 on the gate compared to £51 online but I would also recommend looking for further online discounts.

The Circus only runs on weekends so I would recommend going on the weekend as the circus is included within ticket price so even better value for money and the cave tour runs every 20 minutes.
