Wild Cooking with Sustainable Alaska Seafood
Reviewed by Ruth Clements
I received the book Wild Cooking with Sustainable Alaska Seafood to review, I wasn’t sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. It was not just a cookery book, but also tells you a little of the history of Alaska, and where sustainable seafood comes from, there are fabulous photographs throughout.
Each recipe is illustrated with a full page picture, so you can see what your finished dish should look like. The recipes are well set out and easy to follow, with methodical steps, however for a busy mum it would be handy if there was an indication of how long the dish took to prepare and cook. Each recipe uses basic ingredients, which can easily be bought in a regular supermarket, all too often recipe books use ingredients that are difficult to source. There is a cooks tip at the end of each recipe, some are shortcuts, others how the recipe can be adapted for different tastes, others are handy hints.
The book itself is spiral bound and the pages can be wiped clean of any little spills.
Overall this is a great little book for seafood lovers and I can’t wait to try some more of the recipes.
