I had not heard of The Wild Pharmacy until I received the Superfood Vital Mask as a product to test and review, so I did some research to find out more about the company. I can now tell you that The Wild Pharmacy was founded in Finland in 2010. Their ethos is to use only 100% natural ingredients when making their products and wherever possible organic too. All products are hand made.

The Superfood mask is ‘rejuvenating and brightening, it reduces redness and smooths the skin’. The product contains black currant leaf, Aloe Vera, raspberry and apple extracts which help maintain moisture and elasticity. It is suitable for all skin types and all ages. The product comes in simple understated packaging. It is a 50ml plastic container with a pump dispenser. The container has a white base with a pretty two tone blue and black design and a black cap.

The pump allows you to be very accurate with the amount of product you use. I found it easy to dispense the mask into the palm of my hand.

The container does have instructions in English, however, there is no direction on the amount to use.

I used 2 pumps which was enough to cover my face and neck sufficiently. The mask is a creamy colour and the consistency of lightly whipped cream. It has a very light fragrance which I was unable to identify. It could be the black currant leaf, but not sure. It wasn’t an unpleasant smell but not a wow either. The mask was easy to apply, almost like facial moisturiser, but unlike a moisturiser it did not rub in, but stayed on the surface of my face and neck. It wasn’t sticky or oily. The instructions say to leave on for 15 minutes to get all the hydrating benefits so once it was applied I took the opportunity to relax while it did it’s magic.

Fast forward 15 minutes and as per the instructions I rinsed off the mask with lukewarm water and patted my face dry with a soft towel. I was eager to see the results. Looking in the mirror, I could not notice any discernible difference to the appearance of my skin. No miraculous reduction in wrinkles and fine lines,! But what the mask did do was leave my face and neck feeling very soft and dewy to the touch. This benefit lasted throughout the day and into the next day too.

I have quite sensitive skin and sometime find new product can irritate my delicate face leaving it sore for days, but this mask was so gentle there was not the slightest sign of any irritation.

The 50ml pack seems quite small but you don’t need much so it should last for several applications.

I enjoyed using this Wild Pharmacy Superfood Viral Mask, I will be happy to use it again and would recommend it as a moisturising mask made from natural ingredients as a gift or special treat.
