I was sent a selection of toys from Kikkerland for my tiny reviewers to enjoy including the On The Go Matching Memory Game.  it comes in a convenient tin measuring approximately 10.5cm x 10.5cm making it the perfect game to shove in your bag for travel and storage.

I love that this item comes in a little tin rather than in a box, it will survive being carried around and has the longevity that a cardboard box just doesn’t have not to mention there’s no worry of any annoying incidents where the box bottoms out and the contents spills everywhere.  The tin features a picture of a cute design of 4 of the animals featured in the game.

Inside the tin is 24 square cards featuring 12 pairs of animals for matching, they are made from a strong cardboard, they feel substantial and should fare well over time.  The pictures are various animal faces in a vibrant, bright cartoon style, there are bears, foxes, tigers, pandas and cats to name a few.  They are very eye catching and were really enjoyed by the children.  They liked trying to get a pair of their favourite animal and started instigating a fun swap system.

To play the game you lay all the cards face down, each player turns over 2 cards looking for a matching pair if no pairs are found the cards get turned back face down ready for the next player, players need to remember where the different cards are in order to make pairs.  The player with the most pairs wins.

With my little one we play a simplified version where we leave the cards face up after they have been turned over and she can look out for matches.

The game can be played by 1- 4 children and I think it’s great that this classic game can be played solo, I was pleased that it kept my 8 year old occupied even when there was no one available to play with her, and much preferred to screen time in these cases.

The recommended age range is 3+ and playing matching memory games are brilliant for little ones – it really helps them to develop their attention, concentration and visual memory as well as being fun to play.

The simple design of this item and it’s storage tin are brilliant, the size of the tin makes it the perfect stocking filler. This would be a really fun little gift to open Christmas morning.  I love how portable it is, I will be taking it with me to keep the kids occupied when visiting family over the festive period and on future holidays.

This item costs £10 to purchase which I would say is only slightly more than I would like to pay but nonetheless the tidiness and compact design of this game have completely won me over.

Overall a great stocking filler that entertains across the ages.
